The problem is that in renders and studio lighting there is little reference for depth on the GR86 when compared to the BRZ. So the GR86 looks like it has a short and stubby nose, compared to the BRZ that picks up a lot of highlights and shadows even in a render or under studio lighting.
But get it out in the real world... You start to see how the nose comes forward more sharply and you have a lot of creases and it is overall more clean. Oh, boy, does it all come together... |

I think the promotional shots where the photo of the car is taken low to the ground doesn’t do it justice, whereas YouTube videos and Instagram shots of the car where it is taken from an eye level view point look much better IMO. I guess don’t write it off until you see it in the flesh. |

As others have said, the perspectives IRL are much different than those on the net. I too am anxiously awaiting to see one in the flesh before making any final buying decisions. That also goes for whether I'll buy the GR86 or the BRZ and for that matter, color choices as well. |

I didn't like the looks of the FRS when it started popping out online but ended up with one. It looked a lot better in person. Same with my mk5 Supra and ended up with one. The new 86 actually looks great so far, hopefully better in person. Only thing holding me back is the possibility of a new GR Corolla.

I sure hope gen2 looks better in person. As pictures don't do it justice. Which is sad... because I can look at pictures of gen1 all day and the damn thing looks beautiful every time from every angle. But from looking at all the pictures of gen2 that have ever been shown so far, I feel meh... It's just not a photogenic car I guess. I'll keep gen1 as my desktop background

As many other's have said, seeing one in person is definitely necessary!
I did not like the look of it from the pictures and video, but after getting up close and personal, the GR86 really has very pleasant overall proportions. I still didn't like the BRZ in person, but that's just personal preference of not liking the front bumper.
