I Emailed Edelbrock got a ticket number but never a response. Amazing that someone willing to spend $5500.00 on one if their products doesn't even merit a response.
I also emailed them but didn't get a response.

You might try calling customer support or technical support. They are much more responsive. Usually you can put your part number in and they will call you back once someone can talk.

Also didn't come with the filter grease. Does anyone know if this is really "required" to work properly?

Overall my brother and I were able to install it in ~7hrs BSing as brothers do.
Waiting on Delicious for my tune, first tune they sent me was not compatible with my ECU. Tried the CARB tune, but it was not behaving well at all. My assumption right now is due to my FT86 UEL headers, but honestly not sure.
No idle issues and pulls real hard until about 4k then it just kinda meh. My hope is the tune will fix that problem.

I talked to Tony at Edelbrock about the filter by the way. I didn't have the filter grease either. I asked Tony and he said it was no longer needed. About 3 years ago they switched to a dry filter as the oiled filter and grease are not good for the MAF sensor. So newer kits don't need it. The new filter can just be washed/dried. Tagging @jayjay06 too.

Also, my kit was built in early 2019. It has the wrong bypass valve. This happened because I ordered the kit without the tuner (15560 instead of 1556) and those don't sell as quickly, so I guess their inventory is older.

They are sending me the new bypass free of charge, which is an ok resolution but I wish I didn't have to do that step especially since it needs to be spaced properly. A little nervous about doing that adjustment accurately especially because the bypass sounds like it can be damaged easily. Also had to buy a feeler gauge and will plan to rent the needed vacuum pump.

Has anyone installed the 15001 bypass kit and if so any comments or tips? I'm still waiting to get the parts and haven't looked at the existing bypass in detail. A few steps left me wondering what specifically to do but it should be easier once I can match up the picture to the physical parts. Really hard to understand from looking at the pictures alone.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks. Like I've got some grease to clean off! Ugh.

Don't know about the bypass valve, but very easy access while it's off!

That doesn't bode well for me. I also ordered the kit without the tuner. I'll find out this Saturday.

Be sure to also check the washer for the pulley (mine was ok) and the surge tank. Surge tank should be fat, not skinny, and will look different from the one in the install instructions. Also there is a rubber insulator for it with a "W" pattern. I had no idea what that thing was till I asked Tony.

I have 15560 (no tune) kit and ended up with correct bypass so luck of the draw I guess.

The rubber isolater I think you are talking about goes on the water pump and the "w" slides onto the water pump bracket (bracket #1 in the bracket parts list). It's not very clear but happens on step 135.

Yeah they told me it's super hard to change the installation manual. Lots of added process to make the change, get it approved, etc.. Oddly enough I just checked and see that my physical instructions in my book are NEWER than the pdf on the website. So that is good to check. I think the latest version of the install instructions is April 2018.

Hey guys - another P0171(lean condition) and taking a look at my fuel trims, of course they're pegged at +35. All of this of course is right before I'm supposed to go get my BRZ emissions tested. Yay.

Went to go take look at the bypass actuator since I haven't paid it much attention and after pinching off the hose there's a very immediate and direct response. Also you can definitely hear the hissing sound of air entering.

So, how difficult is this new bypass actuator to install? Has anyone done a step by step?

Yet another failed actuator

How many miles? Im almost to 10k and still on the original. I've been waiting to see if the updated part fails prematurely as well before going through that whole mess.

5k miles on this (second) one. I only know about it because I went back to the CARB tune for an emissions test. I normally run a delicious tune, which I don't think reports these conditions.

It's likely been bad for a while.

I tried three times to get through to Edelbrock tech support today with no luck. Sent Tony an email, let's see how long it takes to get a replacement actuator.

@BR-ZED @jayjay06

Looks like mine came with the new bypass valve after all, so I'll be installing it soon. I'll be sure to provide a few updates at the 5000 mile mark and above since there doesn't seem to be a lot of information available for the new one yet.

Good idea. Yeah, I passed the 5000 mile mark on the upgraded bypass a while back. No issues to report and running very well. In fact it just put down 340rwhp tuned by Bill on site at Delicious Tuning about a week ago on E65 with about 10hp we left on the top end pending a fix from ECUTEK. The car is an AT and its exactly where I wanted to be power wise from such a simple set up. It has a stock pulley eforce, DT E85 FF kit, DW700cc injectors, 300c pump, FT86 catted UEL, HKS rear exhaust and a 4.30 manual diff swap.

Are you still on stock internals?

Yes.

I also put a setrab trans cooler on the AT for long up hills drives to the mountains out of an abundance of caution. Engine oil temperatures are never a problem for my street and highway usage.
