I think it's a real shame there is no true successor to the Elise or Exige. The Emira is pretty obviously only a replacement for the Evora. But if it keeps Lotus afloat as a company, and they are still building sportscars, I guess it is worth it. |

And that is 'just' the tuned Toyota based 3.5L V6 ('from a Camry') with a supercharger. It still sounds glorious. People (including me) go nuts over the sound of a Porsche flat 6, but this just goes to show that even a humble V6 (even one from more mundane vehicles) can still dish the goods if it is tuned properly and has a decent exhaust. The AMG 2.0 might even be a better performer with the boost turned all the way up, but I think I'd be picking the V6 every time.

Is Always The Answer The Evora was just boring looking for a Lotus. This looks better than the Evora, but what I would have loved to see is an exotic looking Exige--a Miata on steroids. I think the styling is there, and I am glad they ditched the useless back seats, but the dimensions and weight leave me scratching my head.

I dont know what they did to get that sound but adding an exhaust to say a Camry or an IS with that same motor (abeit N/A) could not reproduce it. |

V6 all the way. That its a Toyota piece is even better. To hell with a crude tiny 4 banger.

The 400 models on came with a better exhaust. Heaps of aftermarket options, but they all sound amazing (the same) with a good setup. Amazing from such a common run of the mill engine. |

My color combo. Excellent taste, sir. Although, I went with the Alcantara seats and wheel. |

A supercharger just makes the exhaust sound louder, the harmonics are still basically identical (backpressure increase is negligible). It adds a bit of noise to the intake though. I haven't actually driven an Evora S before but my friend said you can definitely hear the supercharger.
An NA 2GR sounds great with a louder muffler than what comes on a Sienna. The 2GR swapped MR2s sound glorious. |

I quite like the Toyota 3.5 V6. My wife has a '12 V6 Camry SE. I know the car doesn't get a lot of love, but that engine is, I think. worth the price of admission. Even in the Camry I love passing 18 wheelers on two lanes just to listen to it. I just wish you could get some decent aftermarket suspension pieces for it.
Sadly, the Lotus is a non-starter for me, as is the Miata, the C8, and the Cayman. Of all the sports/sporty cars on the market the BRZ is the only one I've found that comes close to fitting me. The others are designed around micro-drivers. I realize how normal distributions work and I can tell you that height is one of the attributes where being over two standard deviations from the mean has its drawbacks when it comes to cars.
