Then again, it was the manager of sales and he was a car guy. Dunno about the one with you.

I had this very same thing happen with the Subaru BRZ test drive. I test drove the platform 4 times and only once did I get a good drive...

Hmm, maybe that's why the dude was so nervous. 1 mile and if something were to happen, there goes the price of the car.

Can't blame him for being either. Perfect stranger with unknown skills, brand new car and a test drive could go wrong very quickly.

I feel like my dealer didn't give two shits they literally just threw me the keys and asked for copy of my license and my salesmen was just waiting inside. I think it's completely based on the dealer you go to the high volume ones have more trust I think. I had 3 miles on mine and am about the same age.

What was the biggest thing that made you decide to get a frs/brz/86
I had a spare $28K in my wallet and I act like I'm 12.

Must confess that at least half of that applies for me as well.

I still think this is one of the most exciting cars you can get brand new for under 30k on the market right now. I was looking for something that is more of a "toy" than a DD when I was shopping for a car.

The only car that will rival my decision is the ND Miata but it wasn't available in 2013. Next is a base 981 Cayman which I don't have the dough for.

I was really into the heritage of the AE86 beforehand but then I saw Chris Harris driving the prototype and thought they'll never make this. Then like a year later I saw a saabkyle04 video and was like shit they did make it and decided I had to have it.....

It's the wife's, so it was mainly my choice. Well, I helped... a lot.

Anyway, this car had been on my radar since it was first announced. And as everyone else has said, the styling is a work of art. Subaru & Toyota collaborating to make it was also a huge plus; these are 2 consistently reliable companies who cherish their reputation.

Then we drove it.... and it was everything I expected, and then some. How many cars can you buy at this price point... that handle this amazing? Find some twisty roads and you'll be grinning from ear to ear! (I do, every time my wife lets me drive her FRS)

Fun. Fun. Fun.
An amazing driver's car.
I love driving it - every day.
There are some rough edges and if that bothers you, buy an Accord.

What was my deciding factor? Small RWD sport car, as simple as that.

Loved the way the car looked
Better gas mileage than the boring Altima I was driving at the time
Seating position - I'm only 5'3", and was afraid before I drove it that I would have visibility problems.
Budget allowed for Limited BRZ, so I got the nice interior stuff

Having said that, after owning the car for 9 months, I appreciate even more all the things that make the twins so great. We are fortunate to have them.

Driver involvement. So few cars engage the driver as much as the 86. Light and nimble. Neutral balance. Seating position is better than my R8. Love the center tach and rev counter. Love the fender peaks. RPMS past 7000.
