Reviews of HID (D4S) Bulbs?
Any reviews for the D4S bulbs for the BRZ or 10 Series FRS OEM bulb upgrades/replacements?
Currently, the popular ones in the market are: Phillips D4S Ultinon Morimoto Xengreen Garax D4S Please post feedback on which type of bulb and color temp you chose. Thanks! |

D2S bulbs will require you swap to D2 ballasts. If I'm not mistaken, and correct me if I'm wrong, the BRZ/GT86 uses Matsushita ballasts, so you'd just need to find a set of D2 Matsushita ballasts to swap over.
The pickings for D4S bulbs are slim. I've been contemplating grabbing a set of D2 ballasts so I can run some Osram CBI bulbs. I have a set of those in my wife's Accord w/TSX retrofit and my goodness is it lovely. |

Yep.. I've been thinking of getting a set of D4S bulbs but they are very pricey.
The Phillips are going for over $200 for JUST the bulbs. However the Morimotos are a much cheaper alternative. Does anyone have experience with their D4S bulbs? |

you can get a set of phillips bulbs on theretrofitsource.com for $95. The main difference between D4S and D2S are that the D4S are mercury free and are more environmentally friendly, they are a bit brighter however if you have a higher wattage output ballast the light output won't be too big of a difference between the two.

We carry D4S replacements on our site that will match OEM quality. Priced very competitively, especially with our Cyber Monday specials: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/l...ulbs-all-sizes
Feel free to call me if you need more information Thanks! Nick C.

There is no way you'd be able to "adapt" the D4 ballast to use D2 bulbs. They are not compatible and trying to do something like that may end up killing you or causing a fire. |

I've replaced my stock bulbs with Philips D4S Ultinon 5000k and they are brighter than stock with just a cooler white than the warm white the stock one's produce. Paid $250 for just the bulbs. I'm thinking of moving to 6000k version next to match my 6000k turn signal bulbs and selling the 5000k. I want to match my bulbs.
