I feel like I see transport trucks all the time for all types of cars including luxury brands and that includes Toyotas/Lexuses. This is California, so I’m sure states with snow or bad weather might get different treatment.

Me too. Those are being transported from POE's to dealerships. Vehicles shipped from factories to distribution points are enclosed.

Most don't look like this after graffiti "artists" hit them.

All dealers are paid to do that. Repairs over a certain dollar value are disclosed to the Toyota customer. If the repair cost is excessive, they're usually donated to tech training programs.

My brother-in-law has driven car transports for 20 years. He says that damage of any kind is almost none existent. The only cars they have serious issues with are the Hellcat. Apparently the under spoiler on the front gets caught up and ripped off on every car they deliver. FCA has to ship the completed car and they can't just leave it off so they send a replacement in the trunk of each car that the dealer can just swap out.
It is fun that people worry about a car being damaged by being hauled on an open truck where only the sides are exposed when as soon as the car hits the road on it's own it is far more vulnerable.

Again, some enclosed containers may be available or desirable in some states.

They are enclosed because they are on shipping containers or trains because those efficient forms of long transport are enclosed--not because they are trying to avoid damage.

I really don't know about the logistics of transporting a car from Austria to the US, if that is where those cars are truly heading.

None of the Toyota POE/distribution yard to dealer transporters I'm aware of are enclosed in the U.S.

As said, they're enclosed to reduce transportation damage claims from environmental, theft and vandalism causes.

Toyota doesn't use shipping containers to US ports. They have a fleet of ro-ro ships sized to transit the Panama Canal.

Don't know how they are shipping from Germany though. Won't be the standard Toyota Transport ships.

Here's how they get them from Portland to Anchorage, about the same distance from Zeebrugge to Baltimore.

Maybe they could backhaul a Maru loaded with Supras and Yaris with stops down the East Coast and the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal to West Coast ports and back to Japan loaded with Camrys with stops in Hawaii and Guam but yeah, that's a lot of ship to transport a handful of cars, so unlikely.

That is a coastal barge. It would be doomed crossing the north Atlantic.

Thought it was obvious satire but of course.
