I love it when the response to "This isn't going to work" is "Well, we already said we were going to do it this way so that's the way we are doing it."

I've got a big red Craftsman Shop Vac I bought in the mid 80's that still runs like a top. It'll suck the paint off the walls when the filter is clean. You might want to test it first.

that's what happens when you're dealing with tradesmen. Our company has been having the same problems for the past 20+ years. no one ever tries to fix anything they just say, "welp that's how it's always been done." and watch it all go to chit.

Sure you can! But no actual engineer worth his salt would support a known bad approach.

Echo nailed it. That's the difference between tradesmen and engineers. Both have their place in the world because while the engineer is busy minimizing risk, the tradesman will forge on and just build the damn thing.

If the situation is otherwise, either they are ignorant or trying to save face due to past ignorance.

There is also a difference between accepting a non-optimal solution and promoting it. Less risk, budget, time, etc are all valid reasons for sticking with a current approach as opposed to updates. In my current situation, that doesn't apply. This is purely someone trying to save face.

I never thought that I would ever need to know what "circular mil ohm/foot" would mean, but here we are today.

Anyone know how to build resistive element heating panels? Need to stand up to about 2000F.
