Thats not the way i understand it... how would it work if you needed to take your car in for service... you would flash the stock rom (provided by ecutek) back into the car and the dealer would be able to flash over it.

If the dealer can flash over it, i can flash over it.

This worked when i was an ecutek tuner for evo x back in the day. Many of the customers i tuned on ecutek converted to ecuflash. I transferred my tunes manually to ecuflash then flashed right over the ecutek mapped ecu's with ecuflash. Granted that may have changed, but i just don't see them preventing you from over writing the ecu. Reading the ecutek tune is another case entirely and not something i have any interest in doing.

I can't remember the thread but someone said the dealer tried to do an updated flash while he had his ecutek flash still on and it bricked his ecu. I can't find which build thread it was though so I can't remember exactly the details

That was the old WRX Ecutek reflash. There was no way to remove it once it was on the ECU, it made many people very angry when they couldn't flash to something else later on like Cobb. The BRZ ones can be reflashed back to a stock map.

Looking forward to seeing some good numbers out of the kit, I have my eye on the intercooled version a couple years down the line.

@mines13 Do you by chance have a close up of the bypass area?

And are there boost nipples (below the blower) to which we can hook up a boost gauge etc?

Thanks for the info guys. I think the key is flashing back the "stock" rom provided by ecutek before you try and flash with another tool.

I'll do some more reasearch

At that point, you'll need to get in touch with your tuner who sold you the ECUTek license, show proof that the dealer gave you a new ECU, and get a new license generated for the new ECU.

So yeah, I think I'll be fine. I know it has been an issue in a few cases in the past with other cars but i don't think they would intentionally lock anyone out of the ecu these days. The rom will be encrypted and unusable, but that does not prevent you from flashing over it.

Sorry for the semi off topic, but this was all in relation to tuning options for the twin's twin-screw

I have been looking at possibly running E85 with water meth on the Innovate kit. Not right away but after the newness of the kit has passed and I want to do a little upgrading. I am already getting my FI preparation mods Oil cooler, Radiator, Breaks so it will definitely feel like a whole new car even with the pump gas kit but I think once the newness wears off I'll start upgrading my fuel to see how much I can get without going for a 70mm pulley. Anyone else making any plans similar to this or is everyone looking to inter cool it and possibly just run a smaller pulley for more power once the newness wears off for them?
