As widespread as this issue is, no matter how minor, it seems to me there would be a good market for an aftermarket drop in replacement fuel pump that doesn't chirp...Has anyone made one?

12,000 Km's it started, right after Toyota repainted a scratch in the bumper?!

Won't go away unless I turn on the OEM radio, now I complain about the Radio.

the new header has downed out the SC whine, this is really bad.

the Nameless header sounds awesome at 6k rpm.

now driving everywhere at 6k rpm

I was driving through a parking lot last night with my windows down when all of a sudden my crickets got much louder. I look over and see another 86 (not sure which of the twins) sitting in a spot idling

ive posted in this thread a couple of times already, just wanted to update.

got my fuel pump replaced at the 17.5k mileage mark, under warranty during a routine dealership service. I was told that it was a third generation pump, and that yes the first two pumps had the crickets issue.

I am at almost 23k miles now and the crickets have not come back. Also, I live in CA and daily drive with 91 octane e10... so I'm going to say that they fixed the crickets on my car.

edit- what the fuck? I posted here 4 days ago? I must be losing my mind

Does the 2015 have the 2nd gen pump or the 3rd gen? My 2015 chirps but not as bad as others that I have heard.

I'm still surprised none of the aftermarket companies have taken advantage of this opportunity and came out with a drop in replacement pump that doesn't chirp. Unless I'm wrong...if so please let us all know which one fits the need.

It's kind of funny/sad because I've had similar situations. I now know when an FR-S/BRZ is near simply by it's unique chirping call.

I've had my 2015 FR-S for about 3 weeks now. Let me start by telling everyone that this crickets are still here on the newest model. Started to hear them after I filled up my 2nd tank, around 300-350 miles.

I tried Lucas UCL with fresh tank of gas from Shell, did not help a bit.
Then I tried TCW3 with the next tank from Chevron, did not help a bit.
I don't have any gas station that are E0 around me.

Then I decided to take it to the dealership, got there and was told that they are aware of this issue and to bring it in for them to take a look. Couple of days later I brought it in and was told it will take about 3 hours to fix, took a shuttle home. 2 hours goes by and I get a phone call from the service adviser telling me that there is nothing they can do, he spoke to his mechanic and the mechanic said its working as intended. I told him that does not sound right and replace it anyway, his reply was sure if you pay for it... Then he said that my model does not have a TSB for that issue.

So the moral of the story is they still have not fixed the crickets.
As I've always said, dealers and mechanics are often the most idiotic and irritating people you will ever do business with. Basically every time I've been to one I've had problems.

I just recently I tried getting my Eclipse fixed. Well, the local dealer said that they were too busy so they would call in a few days. Well, no call so I call back to check and he repeats the same thing. This went on for over a month so I finally said, "Forget it, I need my car fixed so I'm going to another shop."

Well, the other shop had a lady who didn't understand what I was trying to tell her so I asked if I could just speak directly to the mechanic about it and she said they don't allow that. I begrudgingly let them go ahead and take my car then later they let me know that they couldn't fix about 70% of the issues I had but yet charged me up the ass. For example, 100 dollars to check the Check Engine light. Seriously? Most places do that for free! And they charged me another $50 just for checking the ABS sensor which I'm pretty sure is part of the same system.

And then they charged $200 for replacing my transmission fluid which I supplied and another $300 for looking at my door handle but not being able to fix it and $150 for replacing a little hose that I supplied in my engine bay which is just a matter of loosening and tightening two bolts right up top. I told the service lady that this was pretty ridiculous but she said, "No, I gave you a deal! You saved nearly 80 dollars! You have to pay it!" And to top it off, I told her to order 4 clips for my brake light and I went to pick them up today but she only ordered two. So yeah... one of my biggest goals now is getting a new car that I'll never have to go to the dealer with. But I learned my lesson... A lot of this stuff I should have just done myself. I was a fool for thinking they would be fair and reasonable.

Although I have used Lucas UCL, not sure if I've done so while on the cricket prone 93 octane Puma fuel... worth a try.

All of the pumps regardless of revision are not fixing anything. Do not waste your time at the dealer and risk a bad install. Just ride with it. There are other cars chirping as well in the same manner.

I'm probably jinxing things but my crickets died or went into hibernation earlier this year. I've been on same fuel (Shell CA 91), and all sorts of different air temps. I haven't heard a peep from the little guys in 6 or more months.

I'd say I kinda miss them...but no, I don't.

I disagree and have had different results in my personal experience.
