I've never been a big fan of black rims on a white car because they never come out well in photos. These ones look better in real life, with the accents machined into the sides of the spokes. |

I spent a lot of time thinking about what wheels and tires to get. I don't track the car and so balance and feel are more important to me than ultimate grip. I really wanted a lightweight wheel and tire package without breaking the bank. I was really tempted by the Continental ExtremeContact DW because they are light and I could go wider for the same weight. The 17x9 rims weigh a pound more but the 245 CECs area pound lighter (on paper) than the 225 MPSS. In the end, I decided to keep things relatively narrow, only 10mm wider than stock. I really like the combination. With the +35 offset, the steering is a bit heavier than stock but I think the feel is even better and it still doesn't tramline. It has much better grip than stock but it still has that throttle adjustable balance. Weight is down by ~3.3 lb per corner and even with the stiffer sidewalls the ride is no worse than stock. They sure are noisy though!

Honestly, those MPSS, from what I understand, run pretty wide. Probably nearer to a 235. So you got some good grip. So close to buying these wheels.
Stock suspension? And are the hubcentrics necessary, or just make things easier? |

The hubcentric rings are necessary. I had aftermarket rims on my old Intergra without them and I always had a lot of vibration. The rings are cheap and easy, so just get them. I think the GTF1s are a great value for a light wheel. The MPSS have been great so far, wet and dry, except for the day it snowed a bit. I was a bit ambitious and put them on a week too soon! |

I'm super stoked for mine to come in. Unfortunately, stock is so scarce, the shop I ordered from could only guarantee to be able to get two wheels in and said "We'll see about getting the other two".

As I recall, the 17x8 GTF1s were out of stock at 1010Tire last fall/winter as well. I ordered mine from them in the spring and got them from the Toronto warehouse in just a couple of days. It was painless, except having to deal with Purolator.
