True, if you want just parts you can easily go to ebay. There is probably someone already selling a "frs/brz kit". But if you want to buy something that, say, someone who knows what they are doing actually put on your specific car and drove it around a bit, then yea you have to pay a little extra.

When you buy a car, the cost isn't so much the materials used as it is the research and development. The cost is determined by how many sales are expected vs manufacturing cost and time spent on R&D. If the kit boosts torque above 300nm across the rev range and brings the 0-100 under 5.5 seconds I'll absolutely pick one up. Chasing that kind of performance from an N/A setup will cost a lot more than $8k. Day to day drivability with an SC will be much better too.

Also remember that 50hp doesn't sound like much but on a 1,200kg it'll boost performance much more than on a car with 150kg higher kerb weight. Drop 70-80kg in kerb weight and you'll notice it even more.

I cant imagine this kit being more than 5k as its just the centrifugal type, however if they brought in a roots type thats a different story.

I heard a rumour they will be releasing a proper factory warranted and fitted supercharger as an after sales option but its rumour at this stage as is most of the 86 mods but being a cult toyota its only to be expected.

I see WRX STI frankenstein 2.5l engine swaps in a few months time. There are always ones out there looking to push the limit. In a car this weight and size its inevitable.

There's only so much you can pull out of a 2 litre. 50 HP might not sound like much but its approx. 25% increase in total output. The seat of the pants feeling you would get would be insane. I'm hoping for 10k you would also get injectors and an upgraded pump.

Being HKS it would be expensive.

btw. centrifugal superchargers have proven to be shit in the past so i dont think this will surprise at all

HKS supercharger = Rotrex. You can buy a Rotrex kit off Bullet Cars for a 2.0L NA Impreza for $4.5k (non IC) and $6.5k (water to air IC). HKS kit will be more expensive than this for sure!

25% gain is farkall! But I'm sure that is what is considered safe....

I wonder if this engine has shitty pistons like WRX?

Properly done with the right setup you can easily double the power with the right Rotrex.

Plus my mechanics race a 2 liter N/A engine and beat the times posted at Sandown, and thats against V8's , Ferrari's and Lamborghinis !

Regardless if it has ,

If you want to play with the engine best to add all the necessary equipment.

Either way a properly set up engine will always be more powerful than any factory car.

Easy to get over 250 RWKW's out of a 2 liter engine, i have and will get a bit more soon.
What factory 2 liter has anything close to 300 KW's at the Fly ?
