Only time I get a chance to get personal stuff done is after work or if insomnia catches me. Came into work today to finish fitting a new main spring and reassembling a pack for a customer to pickup. Glad I showed up early because the guys made the eyes the wrong ID and I was able to call the customer before he left his house after apologizing profusely. Now I have to go work on some electrical at my buddies rental property he is prepping to sell and swing by my cousins to throw his daughters quad in the back of my truck so I can fix it and they can take it with them this weekend. Next weekend we are installing windows, doors, and siding the large gardening shed I helped my buddy build at his inlaws. I also need to find time this week to install the overloads I built and a new sway bar on my uncles motorhome.

Yes, retirement is nice, however, for future reference, keep in mind that old saying "the job expands according to the time available for it" (or something like that).

I have found that what used to be a 2 day outside to do list, can now take me up to 2 weeks to complete -

Can't you just learn to say - no?

My grandson walked past me the other day while I was balls deep in our dryer restoring the drum ends, replacing rollers, blah blah.

"Hey Poppa, that sure looks fun."
"That's great! I can teach you all about it while you help me."

"Well, I meant that it looked like you um..."
"Wait, <gasp> so you didn't actually think it looked fun?"

I confess that, while I took no pleasure in having to do it, I felt some satisfaction sticking the landing.

"Balls deep" is probably not the right phrase for this particular story...

My Dad used to say,.as he was watching me mow the lawn/shovel the driveway/till a garden/etc.....

"Work fascinates me....I could watch it.for hours....."

As a kid, I wasn't amused. As a father, I'm embarassed to admit that I may or may not have used the same phrase upon a few occasions.
