JDL UEL V2 kit with the GT2860RS Turbo, exhaust is fully aftermarket, catless overpipe + front pipe + magnaflow catback.

Goal is ~310-320hp on 91 pump gas, will the 7psi spring with the kit do the trick or will I need a 10psi spring for that specific turbo? Thank you.

A lot of things affect your power level. The wastegate spring will determine the lowest boost you can run- it won't stop you from adding more boost, I'd stick with the 7 psi spring for your goals initially.
The spring is also very easy to change, so don't feel like you're stuck with it

Your not gonna hit that on pump with just 7 psi. Flex fuel you might have a shot... But for safety stay at the 7psi on pump till you know the time is dialed in

Get an electronic boost controller keep the low boost spring.

EDIT:: I just noticed that the flange tilts away from the engine on the UEL variant ( unless my eyes are crazy). This is probably how it fits. In my test fitting, I was assuming the flange was flat or tilted TOWARDS the engine, in which case there'd be no way for it to fit without contacting either the pulleys/belts, or oil filter piece with this big of a compressor housing.
You're not crazy, the flange does tilt away from the engine 👌

What are the differences in JDL optioned turbos? GT28 vs GT2806RS vs GTX28, etc.

GT is the base of the line oil-cooled Garrett turbo charger with a cast machined compressor wheel.

GT--R is the same GT turbo except with a ball bearing configuration.

GT--RS is a R turbo with a built-in internal wastegate and water cooling. Unless I'm mistaken, the JDL kit is only currently offered with an external wastegate so this isn't an option without some custom fab work.

GTX series is the top of the line Garret Turbo with Ball Bearings, Oil/Water Cooling, and an improved and more efficient billet compressor wheel. A GTX series turbo will run cooler, spool faster and have much more top end then the lower series Garrett turbo charges. 9/10 it is always worth the money. On a front mount car the oil/watercooling will easily pay for itself in IAT temps.

@Itsjustmika_ To tag onto @Kiske, the JDL V3 kit has the newest G25 series available, which is another generation of engineering and materials advancements. In general it's more efficient (Lower friction and lighter components meaning faster spool, lower heat, longer lifespan), and in turn the turbine design is more aggressive, so it can reach similar pressure ratios with less exhaust flow than the previous generations.

That's pretty much how it goes for all of them, each step is an improvement in mechanical design, materials choice, or both. A GT28 was pretty cutting edge in the 90s, but it's not the turbo OEMs are choosing in 2020 to get 400HP from a 4-cylinder reliably.

Recommended a GTX. Don't skimp on the turbo. What's another 500-1000$ when your already spending 5-8k for kit+supporting mods (on the low end)

Hey guys, this might be a stupid question, I was wondering if you'd be okay to run an OEM catback with a turbo kit? Or are you better off with having a more free flowing system? In
my case I have a fully catless system with the HKS dual res front pipe and an OEM catback and I love the sound. I'm not sure how big of a factor it is but I figured this would be the place to ask. I like the idea of retaining the quietness and not being so in your face. Thank you.

Depends on your goals. There's nothing detrimental about running an OEM cat back on a bolt on turbo kit.
