A while ago the transmission started to act again during a road racing session. I had trouble going into gears and had to end my weekend early. Upon inspection, the clutch was shot and there were metal flakes in the tranny. The garage space is taken up by another project at the moment so I had the Atlanta Speed Company perform the work. I usually avoid shops like the plague, but these guys are awesome, highly recommended.
Installed: - brand-new 0-mile OEM transmission (previous one was used with 34,000 miles) - new clutch (Southbend stage 2 endurance) - new flywheel - Verus clutch fork and clutch fork pivot - new TOB - swapped MTEC shift springs from the busted tranny Unistalled: - Money Shift Racing hydraulic TOB |

This is my 3rd transmission so I want to take a hard look at myself and think whether I am doing something wrong. Banging gears too much, dragging the clutch, something else? I wanted to eliminate as many extraneous factors as I can, hence going back to the OEM TOB. The shop said the MSR TOB looks fine, but they recommend a hydraulic TOB for FI cars, not for cars at stock power level.

Went back to stock header/overpipe/front pipe and removed the Flex Fuel kit. Needed to pass emissions + it is time to simplify things. Got yet another check engine light, this time for the rear o2 sensor; replaced with a new OEM sensor. The code went away after a couple drives and the car successfully passed emissions.

What is the preferred tranny lube for track cars these days? I was using Pentosin but changed to Motul 300. I have since started to get a grind going into 3rd. I'm not sure if it is a lubrication or a wear issue.

I have been using Motul Gear 300 75w90 but switched to Redline MT-90 75w90 for the new transmission.

50/50 mix of Motul Gear 300 and Redline MT-90 is the best I've found.

Put 500 miles on the new transmission and changed the tranny fluid. The drain plug looks good.
Changed engine oil; 1,911 miles since last oil chage but almost a year ago. Also had the Whiteline diff bushings installed (KDT924) to complement the previously installed KDT922 and KDT923. |

Removed the Essex harness bar and Schroth harnesses. Kept the original trim pieces so the interior is back to stock.
