Lol. You'll really be shaking when Nicole and I show up on the Primacy's. Prius Tires FTW!

#21447 2017 BRZ & 86 classification
Per the SAC, please add the following listings to Appendix A:
CS
Subaru
BRZ (inc Performance Pack) (2017)
Toyota
GT86 (inc TRD lowering springs, TRD swaybar kit, manufacturer installed TRD
17” wheel) (2017)
This response also applies to and incorporates input provided by letters #21412,
#21435, #21364, #21458. The SAC does not want to obsolete the “Twins” recently
moved to DS, and believes that the improved gearing and power in the new cars should
be competitive with the ND Miata

You're not scared I'm getting a '17 are ya?

And don't fret too much, talk to Annie if you want a list of reasons the '17 won't do well in STX apparently hehe.
*cough* Suraj *cough*

Yea, it was Chris. He said it felt as fast as Greg's STX car when he co-drove it. My car wasn't completely stock though at the time he drove it. It did have the OFT beta tune on it, which was just fueling changes to smooth out the torque dip. I've driven Greg's car too, I don't really think mine was as quick, just different.

However, I just installed the bolt-ons to the '17 car yesterday and flashed new ECUtek base tune. It moves already

EDIT: PS - Brian just stomped everybody in PAX on Saturday in his freshly reconfigured DS FRS

So all 2017s are in CS. Don't know if that is a good thing for those who didn't get the PP or TRD parts or not.

It will come down to the extra .5" wheel width on the PP vs. the lowering springs and sway bar kit on the TRD package vs. the ND's. I think we can all see where that is going.

Off to the track with my new toy until budget allows an STX build!

More people are buying NDs, and they really have only had one year of increasing development (so far). I predict they will stretch their dominance this year...

Yay me for buying a 2017 86 WITHOUT TRD parts, and getting it all set up and aligned before they come out with the classing details.

Oh well, I guess we can't all be happy.

Give it a bit it'll be reclassed under 12 month rule. Can't see CS being a happy home for it

Yea I can't see how it fits in CS either, unless they wind up bumping the ND up to BS or something. We'll see how it pans out. I'm just gonna run this season on the regular springs and see where it winds up before I change anything.

Gee thanks guys. There goes my internet anonymity.

Also several online reviews from folks that tested the 2017 manual FRS stated it felt like the car had 20 more HP compared to the older twins. If I decided to get one I would totally throw on the TRD parts and rock it in CS. Perhaps the extra power could level the playing field against the ND.

Yea Brian drove the pants off that car (if that's even possible). It'll be another fun season. I'm looking forward to DS.

Maybe feels like it, due to the gearing. The dyno graphs from both my cars revealed that the advertised +5 on the new cars is pretty accurate.

The ND put up BS times most of last year and was on pace with AS at a couple events too. Unfortunately they don't manage street classes around even competition. It's all based off popularity of a car (that and Mazda tends to get favorable treatment in SCCA). There's no way they move the ND now that they've already moved all the FR-S' and BRZs away from it.

I still think it would be funny if the Fiata proves to be the better car if someone decides to try it in CS this year, but I'm sure it would then get moved to BS and the ND would stay in CS.

I don't think this question was ever posed in the CS thread, but does anyone know if the 2016 RS 2.0 (Lunar paint and "luxury" options) is legal in DS or CS? From what I've read, it only came with the 17x7.5 TRD rims that have appeared as an option on the 2017 86s in another color. I don't think that trim ever came with 17x7 rims and it is probably a little heavier than a normal 13-16 FRS/BRZ, but could grabbing one in that trim be a way to get 17x7.5 rims in DS?

I don't have one and think I'm staying CS, but I have been looking at all options for this season...

Release Series 2.0 had same 7" wheels. 18" TRD Wheels were still listed as a dealer installed option with 7.5" for rear only, IIRC.
