Beautiful dogs. I had German Shepherds growing up, as did my Aunt and Uncle, and my Grandparents. Interesting that in all the ones we had (probably 8 to 10 between us), none of them had dark faces like yours. I wonder if that is a recent trait, or maybe a regional thing?

I don't think so. They are just purebred long hairs. I know you can spend a fortune on some purebreds from Germany that are solid black. They say you can tell if shephards have any mix in them if they have any white on them.

Here's Ry.. or Ryuk as his proper name. AKA Douche Canoe, shithead, ryry and several other names.

Chi/terrier mix, just turned 2.. he drives the truck home sometimes for me after drinking/trivia at the brewery back when those things existed..

Here's some from his 2nd birthday with his new toys, treats and the next day where he obviously had too many drugs/drinks or something.

Belgian Shepherds (aka Belgian Sheepdogs) are AKC recognized and typically all black though some have a white chest blaze. According to a couple breeder/owner/handler friends, they're considered the most family friendly of the Shepherds, calmest, with lower prey drive than the other Shepherd breeds. Gorgeous dogs like all the similar Belgian and German breeds.

And today is National Dog Day in the USA though that's pretty much every day for our best friends.

Old man cat has a new friend. I guess he's not that old, just 11. He's always been an anti-social cat, so really glad to see him tolerating the kitten so well, and even being protective of her. As for me, my past few days have been filled with saying things like:

"No, kittens do not belong in the oven."
"No, kittens do not need pizza."
"No, kittens do not belong in the dishwasher."
"I'm wearing shorts, you can't climb my leg."
"No, kittens do not need coffee."

(Now that I look at the pic, I should probably explain the oil stains in the street. Four of the six neighbors across the street own BMWs.)

Princess and her brother Ochi had another play date today. They are almost 8.5 months old. Ochi is 76 lbs, and Princess is 62.

We went to the park today. I don't think anyone will mess with you walking these two.

Filling out nicely, aren't they? With another 10 months of growing to go!

Really beautiful now that they're past the awkward "all ears" stage.

What sort of grooming requirements are there?

They really turn heads, especially when you have both together.

We just bathe and brush princess.

First is our two Labs,, I call them the Knuckleheads. The second our current foster Kilo. No we didn't name him LOL. He's a bit of a special case, can be dog aggressive and has attacked one of my Labs multiple times,,, loves the other one,, go figure. I think he just picks on the submissive one. We've had him over 2 years now, gone out 3 times on trial adoptions,, came back 3 times. We just need to find the right home for him.
