Dion's FRS RS1.0 Build
Hi all I recently purchased my 2015 FRS Release Series 1.0 #379/1500 and took delivery on October 25, 2014. Thought it would be a great idea to start a thread on my build and what I plan to do. I'm currently in college and mods are tough to do as of right now but pushing to make ends meet and a vision I have in my mind of the end result are helping keep this build alive. I have been following the 86 since the production first started and the first 86 owners took delivery of their cars and have admired the car's uniqueness. Visiting the NYIAS in April 2014 and seeing the TRD FRS, my heart was set on getting one and as soon as orders were available, I made sure my name was on the list and finally after a long wait, I was able to get my car.
First time seeing her Brought her home Took some more pics of her Rear Puddle Shot First Tank of Gas Mod List: HKS Drop in Air filter (11/03/2014) - Great mod and perfect dollar for horsepower exchange. Dyno charts say that the car's stock intake is an optimal design but minor modifications are needed to help boost performance, one being the drop in filter. *Installation Tip: Smartest way to do this would be to remove the box for the drop in filter out of the car, remove and replace old filter and then put the box back into the car attaching it to intake. I decided to not remove the box and it did take a lot of wiggling to get it in and to close the clamps but it was doable just more work required. Stock filter is in box lol Valenti Smoked Tail Laight/ 4th Smoked Brake light combo (11/04/2014) - Got tired of the stock tail lights fairly quickly as they did not suit the rear of the car as nicely as they should and valentis were a nice option available at the time and I got a great deal on the 4th brake light and tail light combo. *Installation Tip: Tail lights were completely plug and play definitely the easiest thing to do to the car. Use flat head to remove clips from trunk liner and once trunk liner is out untighten bolts holding tail light in place on car. Unplug harness remove and replace taillight then work backwards from there to put it back together. Dont tighten bolts too much as they would break the seal and most likely cause water to invade the gasket. 4th brake light was somewhat tricky with the rs1.0 bumper as there was a lot less room to move around under and maneuver the wire. All in all installation was very clean. 4th Brake Light Smoked Valenti Tail Light Finished Product in the day View of Tails from another car TRD Gap Filler (11/15/2014) -Small and cheap pickup but necessary since I lost my wallet, my phone, and a few cards in this gap lol. TRD Gap Filler Hit 1000 Miles Today Passport Radar Detector (11/27/2014) My Black Friday purchase picked up the Pasport Escort Radar for 180 original price 349.99 Wanted to hardwire but haven't had the chance as of yet. For now I wired it to the outlet in the glove box and ran the wire by passenger side up to mirror. Radar...was later mounted higher to get a better signal Window Tints (12/06/2014) 12% Driver and Passenger windows Window Tint FIRST TICKET or two... (12/06/2014) Two tickets for window tints today Sucks to have them the same day I got the tints installed WINTER IN NYC IS NEAR Gave her a foam bath with polymer sealant and wax Foam Bath All Clean and ready for winter Happy Birthday to me (12/28/2014) ABFLUG Carbon Fiber Spoiler Awaiting Install My girlfriend gave me an awesome birthday present Couldn't be happier she's a keeper Buddy Club Tail Lights (01/16/2015) Changed my mind on the valentis after valenti decided to release their version 2 taillights so I went with the buddy club version now as not too many people have these. Love the look of these against the yellow especially when paired off with the 4th valenti brake light. *Installation Tip: A relay is required for use with these tail lights and is possibly the most difficult part of the install. Be very careful when installing relay as I injured my hand putting it in due to my hand getting caught against the metal brace behind the steering wheel. To install the easiest strategy would be to first push driver seat all the way back and recline furthest back. Pull steering wheel as far as it could go out and remove the covers around the steering wheel so you can get to the wiring. Now the tricky part...angle yourself upside down feet towards the head of your chair and your head under the steering wheel and look for the turn signal relay. The easiest way to find the turn signal relay would be to put the car on and turn blinker on. You would feel the turn signal relay clicking when the blinker is on (Be sure to check blinker fluid during this process). To remove stock relay just depress the white clamp and pull and it should come right out. Put the new one where the old one was and put the parts back together. Buddy Clubs look amazing Buddy Clubs Installed Looks great with 4th brake Crawford Eco Block Q2 (01/21/2015) Very sketchy mod. Its something new designed by Crawford that basically fools your maf and allows for a slight increase in mpg and a slight gain in hp. Basically bolts on right over your MAF. **RESERVED FOR PICTURE (Crawford Eco Block) Raceseng Lightweight Pulley (01/23/2015) One of the best mods for a DD. Gave an instant throttle performance upon install. Decided to go with the red ones because why not make my engine bay red against the yellow car. Ronald McDonald look >10. Installation Tip: For this..none as I got a friend to put them on due to how difficult it is and how careful you have to be to replace your pulleys. Raceseng Pullies Installed Perrin Intake Inlet Hose (01/23/2015) Another great performance mod installed today by the same friend who put in the pullies. Very simple install. Work Emotion CR 18x8.5+38 (TO BE INSTALLED) Picked up on 01/23/2015 Gave my car a 3 month present Cant wait to mount these Happy 3 Month FRS Mileage Check - 1589 Rocket Bunny V2 Front Bumper (TO BE INSTALLED) Ordered 01/25/2015 Decided that rocket bunny fenders were too mainstream so I thought why not be unique and run the front bumper on the stock body...new fenders coming soon. This thread is worthless without pictures.
Also find it funny how you paid for trd goodies on the front bumper, and now you're going to be ditching them |

The only "trd goodies" on the front bumper is the front lip and I never said I was going to ditch it...ill be keeping it in case I want to go back but I just want something more unique. Its funny anyone pays for a car with specific parts but ends up ditching them regardless. I chose the car because of uniqueness. Anyone with an 86 could do this same build but in my situation with the rs1 only 1500 other people have the possibility of having something similar and then again theres people who might want to paint/wrap their car yellow. Thanks for the response also thanks for reading when I clearly wrote I would be posting pictures later today... Whats the point of hating on a build thread? |

To get the little plaque that says 0347/1500 But seriously the point was to be unique with the car since a growing number of people are getting them around my neighborhood wanted a version no one else had plus the color is beautiful imo |

What i consider unique is for example, the GTI's 20th and 25th anniversary...you don't see them anymore. If you see any stock and with relative low mileage are worth a pretty penny. 10-20 years down the road, a release 1.0 in mint shape will bring some decent dough. |

I mean this is my take from it and what i read on the crawford website...
It's trying to fool the computer to give less gas than the actual air that's coming in so the airflow would be leaner, leading to more power and better fuel economy because its using less gas. |
