Considering a CSP Build from my STX twin..

Considering doing this in the future. How innovative can I be..I innovated alot of stuff for my STX build.. Wonder if I can Replicate it in SP???

How competitive do you think it would be? Can it match the performance of the, now dominate, Miata's?
Some concerns:
-Weight: most National level CSP Miata's are down in the 2200 lb range.

-Tire Size: 295/50/15... don't think that tire size would be a good fit for the twins.. to short and would not optimize the twins gearing.. Soooo what size would work well ??

-Motor/throttle body work: I haven't seen any CSP legal motor builds on the twins yet.. and I haven't seen that a enlarged throttle body produces much over stock flows???

-Suspension: I think the suspension characteristics CAN compete, so thats a plus... Good shocks make a world of difference..

-LSD: I already have an aftermarket diff in my car then enables quicker lockup over the stock torsion unit.

-HP is probably a wash over a CSP Miata.. them being lighter/less WHP vs. a heavier more WHP on the twins..

Thoughts???

Dollar for dollar - wouldn't you be more competitive in SM? Not to mention the car would be a ton more fun.

Also with the STS Miata's being 2000lb, are the CSP cars heavier?

If I leave STX with this car it would be to SM

Have thought about this a bunch in passing and have chatted with some of my friends.

So the front splitter would be a bit annoying to mount but doable. rear spoiler should be easy. Weighed my car at a local tour and it came to 2650 and i'm missing lots of weight items, counted out about 100lbs i could still get out of the car without to much effort (though not exactly cheaply). so i figure you could get it to around 2500 race weight in CSP with some of the stuff you can take out.

As for tires, we were thinking it be worth it to try for 315s, though i feel only an actual test would see if that works or not.

For power, my current STX build has me sitting at 201whp on the mustang dyno i got tuned. not sure how the BPB would really add but seems like it falls between 5-9whp. e85 would be a must and seems like thats around 20whp from some of the threads i've read. you can gut the cats and probably play with some other exhaust setup to maybe get more than i have in my setup but seems like it should be possible to hit around 235-240.

As for the competition, we have the national CSP champ local and the car is around 2100. also have a friend with a csp car and he's swapping to a early 90s body and thinks he can get it to like 2000s. makes about 135whp but still doesn't have e85.

Sorry for lots of rambling haha.

I am right there with ya...mine is 2582 with all my STX mods..depending on gas level. battery, exhaust, brakes, etc... mine is 192 whp on a Mustang... 230 might be a bit of a stretch.. not saying its not doable... I still would be concerned about a few things in CSP trim..
tire size/weight compared to the Miatas... we have a couple of National level CSP cars here also...Neal Tovsen and Danny Kao's CSP Miata was a local regional car ... so well aware ... biggest tire I have known is a 295 30 18 that was fitted to a SM twin a year or so ago...SM would be fun to...with a turbo setup...

Miatas are not 2200 lbs in CSP. More like 1900. They're several inches narrower, lower polar moment, better weight distribution, better suspension design, soo many years of development....

Doubtful you'll be competitive. And by competitive I mean on a national level. Should be competitive locally.

I'm not sure local is any easier than national here...

I'll bet in local pax class Edelbrock supercharger and race tires on STX car will make it more competitive, than anything you can do to it in CSP.
