Couldn't say I was surprised... still a shame
Time to get a TG sticker to honor the show for what it was

Bit of a difference imo and it leaves the opportunity for them to finish the season and leave on good terms. Also from the press release linked above: Quote:

This also leaves it open for them to change their mind!

Top Gear was a great show and JC a great host, but I'm quite impressed at BBC for sticking to their principles and not taking the more lucrative path.

They've got the pre-taped stuff done and BBC is officially trying to figure out how to air it (see my previous comment and source) so yes, Jeremy Clarkson will likely be featured in at least one future Top Gear broadcast.
And as I read the press release, he's still under contract which is set to expire this month, unless there's a specific date, he's still a BBC employee for 6 days by my book, not to mention that he would likely be very willing to sign a one-off deal to complete the season on his terms, with good feels and ratings all around, even the assaulted producer seems to be apologetic about the situation. Although he shouldn't be, most people do jail time for assault, Clarkson's just losing a tv show, boo-hoo. Edit: Not to mention the BBC is likely highly motivated ($$$) to fulfill all the international broadcasting contracts, I'm not sure how strict they are but 80% of completion in most businesses is no better than 0% completion, the repercussions will be hefty. |
