TIL that I probably won’t last long on the Ascent forum!
Even the fuel filter dude here is a regular Einstein compared to some of the pretentious and entitled dipshits there.
For example
One dude buys the base model with no tranny cooler. Lifts it 4 inches, puts big wheel and tires on it and makes home made skid plates to cover all underneath. He then proceeds to tow a travel trailer through the mountains while ignoring the tranny heat warning that came up. Of course he managed to actually break the cvt chain and smash the case! Naturally it wasn’t because he changed the entire drive train geometry and managed to block all airflow around the tranny while forcing the nice hot engine bay air right back to it but because Subaru makes nothing but crap. The only person that pointed this out was immediately shouted down by the masses that say there was no way that the changes would cause that. It needs to be noted that Subaru said his was the only such failure like that in all the cvts they had made ever.

Other dude went on a multi paragraph rant about how he got his oil changed and when they lowered the hoist he noticed oil pouring out underneath. Said the under panel was full of oil and there was a huge puddle on the floor. Supposedly they had not tightened the oil filter well enough and all the oil ran out. Anybody see the problem with this tale?

The problem is obvious: They MUST have put the engine back in upside down after removing it to change the oil.

I never considered that option. Must have been Toyota techs that got confused with the cylinders pointing out the sides.

Hey, this car has the curse... Sounds like all Subarus share the same one! (Clueless owners...)
Also, filter, drain plug, brain... Something not snugas it should be. Only one of those belongs in a place where oil might drain out...

The dude was adamant that it was the filter. I asked how long the car had been running to build pressure and much oil was sprayed on the top of the engine and bottom of the hood but received no reply.

Did you get to the Carolina Squat thread yet? That will put the nail in it.

Nope.

I did enjoy the one where a guy had his car in for repair and was whining they gave him a lowly Outback as a loaner.
Apparently the consensus there says that there is a law in place where if your car is in the shop for more than one day the dealer MUST provide you a loaner of the same model and trim level. If they don’t you just need to call SOA and they will send you a $5,000 cheque to cover your inconvenience.
Sure there are many here that would like to have known about that “law”.

Nope. It was an older thread and I wasn’t going to resurrect it just to point out the obvious.

I was digging for common know issues but 95% of the forum is people whining about petty shit, telling ludicrous stories or offering moral support for either of those.
