TBH the dictating factor to getting a 3070 was to play CP 2077 as high as possible. Plus Control was getting laggy on my 1080. It's still a viable card, but the lust was powerful.

Forza Horizon 4 is now on sale on Steam, should I pull the trigger, was always curious about it. Wanted to re-play Need For Speed (2015) but I 'm not willing to pay $40 for a game that I know will soon shutdown its servers being that the game needs online connection in order to play.

No, and why even bother with the steam version.
Still gonna need a MS account.

Also would not pay full price for the game at this point. Wait till it's on sale.

i like the car options. i especially like that they have the brz in it. but the fr-s isn't. forza 3 has both.

the to-do stuffs in it is extremely overwhelming on the main map. after you've leveled up a few times, you almost can't select any point on the map without hitting 3 other ones...

don't bother getting the base game without the lego and fortune island expansion packs. i like the mountain for drifting in fortune island, and lego island is much easier to manage in terms of play space, and objectives. the main game is a bit hectic with all the objectives literally covering everything

it's fun with a keyboard/controller, but funner with a wheel and shifter.

I recently have gotten back into Dirt Rally 2 and it has made me yearn for another sequel. It also made me realize, Codemasters put detail in places I don't recall seeing in many games (or at least experienced). Things such as actual destructible car parts falling off and not just a cracked light or dinged in bumper like Forza. I completed a course a moment ago with both left side tires gone, as well as the front fender and door missing. Another time my widows were all cracked or the hood flopped.

I also enjoy the sound and design of each car. The engine bays seem well detailed and not just a clean matte color like in Forza. The exhaust and engines sound phenomenal! Even engines from the same lineage sound different, i.e. my 95 Impreza, 22b, and 2013 STI all sound slightly different. This isn't the case in many games where they have the generic boxer motor sound. I also appreciate the simplicity of the improvements you can make on a car and the need to repair it. I know people don't like that idea, but I love it! The attention to detail makes me wish Codemasters would release an actual sim racing game and not that GRID garbage. Anyway, enjoying the game!

Codemasters also makes the F1 games right? If it's anything like that, they are excellent about walking that fine line between simulator and game experience.

That's the more "casual" one. Rally is their more hardcore sim-like version

So my brother tried to get me into F1 2020, and while it's hella challenging, I just couldn't do it. lol Not sure what it was, but I prefer more street-like cars like GT3 or LM racing. Project Cars 2 was a great game, too! I think I actually appreciate the damage model and driving dynamics and wish to see that in other racing games.

That was the reason I wanted a new card as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well my 1080ti coped at 1440p. It has taken the edge off the desire for a new card at the moment.
