My dad's truck just bit me again. Rear end went, 3k. I sure wish I had kept my Honda for my son instead.

That is not too surprising, Powerglides are popular for the drag racing crowd.

These guys do manual conversions on exotics and the Zupra.

https://www.gatedsix.com/forsale

I watched some videos on some of the conversions they did a while back. Insanely expensive. I think it was something like 75-80k+ for the 430 Scud.

I couldn't imagine putting that much into a toaster.

Hell we had an issue years back where plugging in the charger with the unit on and then pressing the brake and throttle would put it in reverse. So I am sure it is not outside of the realm of possibility with our setup.

Here is one of the linear actuators that we use from Sevcon that I opened up for that one project I did . The controller needs to see a closed input from this microswitch before it receives a throttle signal.

Ah, I see. Makes it considerably less scary.

AFAIK it has only been there shop Zupra which has had 3-4 different looks. It is around 10k in labor.

I am far less motivated to wash, detail, and do maintenance on my car this spring... I think it has something to do with the gen2 question. Or maybe it is because I drive it less? Or perhaps I am getting bored of it? This is troubling.

so my dad found one of these altec lansing bluetooth speakers in the garbage a while back. something went wrong with the all-in-one charging/amplifier circuit board.

so i'm gutting the altec electronics and installing my own.

had to fire up my adjustable power supply that i haven't touched in close to 10 years to fine tune the battery level display i'm installing.

10 seconds after powering it up, even before i can dial in the settings i need, it goes POP, and all the magic smoke comes out. i think, hmm, sounded like a capacitor...

i loled when i opened the case and found this. a capacitor attempted to enter orbit, but was blocked by the central chassis support. probably would've dented the thin case if it was anywhere else..

so now i'm out a power supply...

Doh! I bet if you just replace that shorted cap, you'll be good to go. Check the rectifier diodes but usually they go up in smoke when they short.

yeah, i've got some replacement caps on the way. i have 3 big drawers of random capacitors for exactly this reason, but none in this size/rating of course--almost tried a 25v where this was a 35v, but not worth the risk. problem is there was a TON of smoke that came out--like a blown copper winding smoke. caps don't usually smoke when they pop in my past experience. i'm thinking something else went in the process--when it popped, the display cut off like i popped a fuse, but the normal serviceable fuse is still intact.
