OK. I quit heavy weights at about 68 and now I just walk up the mountain a few times a week. I dunno about feeling young, but I am fairly strong at 74. |

This person thinks the 86 platform is a "kid's car" and believes that at his age range he should be in a Supra or something... ...nothing to say about how much fun and easy to live with the 86 actually is. Instead, he sees a car simply as a reflection of status or something!? Can't help but just laugh at that train of thought. Maybe there are older people out there who love the 86/Miata/S2000 for their simplicity and don't care for an automatic BMW. Is it just me or anyone find this really short-sighted, pretentious and just completely uninformed. Also, he says the 86 is a kids car, yet points the camera towards his fully bastardized IS300 with the most immature modifications. LoL 🤣 |

i learned when i was a teenager that anyone who classifies a commodity like vehicles against personal attributes like genitalia, or age, is not someone worth paying attention to.

I think it's sad when it's more important to someone what complete strangers think when they see them driving by than what they think of themselves and their own car. Seems to me to be a deep-seated insecurity. If someone is trying to boost the impression other people might have of them based on their ride, they have bigger problems than their car. I've never cared in the least what anyone thinks of my car other than myself (and my wife, of course). 'Young person's car', 'old person's car', 'economy car', are all meaningless labels. Buy what you like, drive what you like to drive, and the hell with what anyone else might possibly think. |

Years ago I saw a quote attributed to Eddie Murphy, "I bought a new red Porsche sports car so women will see me driving it and want to f&ck me." That is the world's second worst reason to buy a car. A car is NOT an avatar for a person. To the extent that it projects an image of the owner it is an unflattering one.
A car is less, and more than this. For a true "car or motorcycle person" the machine communicates with the driver/rider on a level that defies explanation. There is a symbiotic relationship in which each participant is tuned into the moods and needs of the other. I know it's probably TMI but think of it as sex with a soulmate, Out of the 30 or so motorcycles I owned, probably 3, maybe 4 fit that description. I've owned, I guess, 12 cars. The BRZ is probably the second of those that I've gotten that close to. It's not an "age thing," it's a mechanical "soul" thing - one either has one or one does not.

If what you like about the car is that other people like it then it is what you like and that is what you should drive.
