Oregon Deq fail OFT stage 2 plus.

I did Oregon Deq today and failed for evap. Does anyone have any experience or advice on passing Deq. Mods to car are uncatted UEL headers, and cat back exhaust. Drop in air filter. The car currently has non ethanol fuel in it could that be an issue? Trying to keep crickets at bay.

No, most likely they are trying to do a readiness check on the evap system and it is not responding.

Is there a way to get it to respond?

As oft tunes are based on european roms the evap system is bypassed when your runnog an oft tune so will always fail readyness on USA cars

Flash back your stock tune should pass emmissions

I was just about to ask about this.. I recently reverted my car back to factory stock completely (even reinstalled the sound tube) with factory rom, after having been called in for a CA STAR smog station to renew my registration,. Barely passed. Then shortly after P0456 code pops up. Also, it has the idle dip on the original MY13 A01C rom. I never took it in to the dealership for the TSB. The stock tune on the early MY13 do really suck, relatively speaking.

I flashed an old tune I did back in 2015 for stock headers for shits and giggles and now it runs and idles much better. I was hoping this stage 1 tune could pass smog, but I guess not.

Are you sure of this? I'm asking because I had a P0456 (evap small leak) code pop up while running a stage 1 tune on a reverted to all stock engine as I did right after passing my smog test while on the factory A01C rom.

All the ver 4 oft tunes are euro based earlier v1,2,3 tunes for usa cars were usa based.

Euro cars like mine dont have evap pressure sensor so no evap leak detect . We hace purge solenoid but no evap pressure sensor, so euro roms dont even look for evap pressure the pin on ecu on euro cars is vacant ie A35 pin 20 on ECU

Open you tune with hex editor search for ZA1J there will be three. the third one at about 13,000 hex is true calod of rom first two at 8000 and 10,000 hex are often altered in oft tunes

This tune I flashed was last modified in 2015, so it likely isnt a v4 tune. In that case, I'd still need to take care of the evap system throwing a code or get smog checked before the code is triggered. I'm guessing i messed something up by overfilling the fuel. I suppose Id have until the next smog check to figure it out, and my stage 1 tune is probably smog-able.

Sorry to necro. Oregon here too, but I flashed stock rom back and still failed DEQ. I was told to complete a drive cycle per OEM. Would this possibly be because I cleared the ECU fault codes the morning before I did DEQ? My O2 sensor, EGR, EVAP, Fuel System were marked unready after a good 30 minutes of driving.

Yes. The car will need to complete drive cycles for all monitors to be ready.

I understand driving enough for the drive cycle to take effect but would clearing the ECU fault codes with the OFT tablet set me back at square one? I cleared the fault codes before I went to DEQ because my check engine for P0420 was thrown.

Resetting the fault codes also resets your monitors, so yeah, back to square one.
