Just so OP doesn't get the wrong idea, I wanted to clarify that prices can go way up from there. I was quoted $650 for 3M film, and $1700 for xpel ultimate. Both quotes were for full bumper, hood, mirrors, and front fenders.

Put $2k into the loan, potentially save yourself a couple hundred bucks on interest by paying it off early. Depending on your loan details and how you plan on paying it off you could easily save $500+ for tires by being patient with your modifications.

You know all those reviews about how awesome the car is and how it's the best drivers tool and yada yada yada? Those were all based on a stock car, it does it's job very well off the factory floor.

Use the money to pay off the car first. It's a lot more money in the long run if you only pay the minimum per month.

I'm 19 too and when i first got my car i had huge intentions of modding it. Now that i have the car, i realized this car is so wonderfully made from the factory I barely want to mod it. So basic bolt ons for me

I'm 23 and just placed my order for a 2016 BRZ (AT) on September 2nd. The wait is killing me.

This will be my first new car coming straight from a '95 Accord EX. I plan on keeping it stock for a while and getting to know it before making changes.

My OTD Price was $30k and my loan was about $25k starting May 2014 for a 6 year lone. I bought wheels/tires/cbe/filter and decided to pay off my car instead of buying more mods. I'll be done my payments this coming may. 6 year loan competed in 2 years.

If you think of it this way.....the interest you save by paying off the car sooner is "free" money for mods.

My final suggestion, and probably the most important one, your first mod should be the k&n filter. After that, wait a little while. Drive the car as is, and figure out exactly what you want to improve. Learn the car before you modify it.

More wise advice ^^

Why? Bolded is exactly what I am doing, except I have 21k left on the loan (owner since June). After tires better for Seattle rain, I'm done with mods - except for minor cosmetic stuff.

That really depends on financial situation and the apr of the loan. Some of these loans are so low that sitting with the loan making on time payments to make the credit score better is the better choice than paying off the loan faster.

I really do not get the rash of people buying cars and trading them in a year later. And this is happening with a ton of different vehicles with every car manufacturer. I just don't get it.

This is what happens when people get suckered into a loan that has very favorable payment term, or if the dealer makes a good trade-in offer on the existing car that "solves" your problem..... by rolling over your negative equity.
