Lumbar support for seats? My lower back is killing me

I've had lower back pain for the last few weeks that started when I got my BRZ. I may be the only one with this problem :/ and I'm only 27 too.
Right now I have a sweater to cushion it but I'm thinking of getting some sort of sti baby pillow for my Alcantara Seats... Long drives kill me.

Any thoughts?

1st few drives I felt what your feeling. Then it went away - no more pain. Maybe I changed the way I had my seat adjusted or the steering wheel. I have been messing with both. Drove 300 miles this weekend and was fine.

I had the same concerns. The seats in my '06 GTI are really nice and after the drive home in my BRZ I noticed some lower back discomfort. Since I have a ruptured L4-5 disc I was thinking that maybe the BRZ is not going to work.

Anyway...600 miles later and a couple of longer 100 mile drives I'm OK. Not sure what went on but I've adapted to the seats and find them fine. By the way, my wife just loves the seats in the BRZ.

a wise man from this forum gave me some wise advice when I complained about the same lower back pain a month ago. He suggested reclining the seat back slightly and moving the seat forward slighly to maintain (more or less) the same driving position. I did that and now no more problems.

I also did this, the first 300-400 miles were a bit uncomfortable on long trips, but now I don't notice it.

I drove it 270 miles on the way home the first day. I had to stop and adjust the seat a couple times, but eventually got it right and had no issues with my back after that. =]

Perhaps a small lumber pillow? (An ACTUAL lumbar pillow.)

Yep, I did that with my office chair a few weeks ago and that stopped my back pain in that setting. I was going to suggest it, but you got there first!

It's an acute muscle strain and will go away. People often get this when changing office chairs, etc. Your body will adjust. Using lumbar pillows is not a long-term solution and may prolong the pain. Yes, I actually am a doctor.

I hope so! I'll deal with the pain a little longer, I've logged over 1,300 miles in a the few weeks I've had the car. I've also tried reclining further and messing with the tilt settings. Glad to know that I'm not the only one with this pain.

Exactly, that's how I've had my seating position in all the cars I've owned, so I can get more support for my lower back. I hate having the seat tilted all the way up, otherwise its ends up leaving a strain of pain later on. The only thing I don't do is push the seat up more, I don't see why that would be needed to.
