It's laughably bad. Plastic cladding which I hate since it degrades/fades in sunlight. Civic tail lights. The highest trim the GT with adaptive dampers and seats is automatic only. 3 HP gain. The 11.6 touch screen with AC controls hidden in there. The base model's screen looks like a nintendo 2DS.

I don't mind the black on the bottom of the bumpers/side skirts, but I'm not a fan of it going around the wheel arches.

Taillights of the 2015-2021 were extremely boring so as plain as the 2022's are I think they are an improvement, the black bar with the Subaru logo jutting in it is pretty bad though.

If the torque curve is much broader than the current gen like they say I'm happy with this model. Current one is so unresponsive below 3k rpm, then punches you in the back for a second, then just dies off.

Welp, that's genuinely worse than I expected it to be -- and my hopes weren't all that high to begin with. The good news is that no matter how much horsepower the STI has, if it has those wheel arches I'll have no desire to get one.

It looks like a Pontiac Aztek and the Subaru Crosstrek had an ugly baby. Holy shit it's bad! Did they not look at it before they released it? Where was the management? How can this happen?

Its actually quite close to the Viziv Concept that people seemed to like.

https://www.motortrend.com/news/next...initely-hybrid

All the lines and bulges are in the same areas and it looks more like detail got added to the concept which makes it watered down (and smaller wheel wells of course)

The added aggression with the STI model should help it look better since the viziv STI makes the viziv performance concept look quite tame.

The reactions are always the same with a new generation. Read the comments on the reveal for the last 2 gens:

We've seen it with the 2nd gen of the Toyobaru too

You release that sti concept as production model and price it in between the z and the supra and you win!!!!!! After todays reveal though we all know that is not going to happen. Subaru should stop making concept cars as they help augment the massive disappointment when they release thier production versions.

Body color fender flairs help a lot.

Overall, I really like the design. The tail is a little too blunt, but everything else is aggressive and actually well executed compared to a lot of Subarus that end up looking frumpy.

Yeah it does, doesn’t it. You’d think they’d spend the few extra $$$ to paint it. What would it be, less than a 1/4 a tin of paint lol.

Agree Painted fenders would help alot. Don't mind the front but the rear sticks out wayyy to much...

It’s quite a tall, skinny looking sedan. I’d imagine the darker wheel arches are supposed to slim the body profile down, but it just looks like a tall sedan with dark wheel arches.

I have a strong suspicion that they’ll do color matched flairs for the STI. Another way (in addition to the large wing) to separate and distinguish the two trim levels.

More displacement, less revs = same hp more torque. See K20A vs k24A. There are many examples. The FA24D is atypical.

It kinda looks like they're dumping their current demographic in favor of providing an upgrade path to say, drivers of the Crosstrek. looksbadman. And that power bump is an insult. Gotta be the CVT limitation?

And whats with the huge tumor on its ass? Why's it have to stick out so far?
