My 2015 "JDM BRZ STI" build

Hey guys!

This is definitely my first major post on any type of forum. So I would like to start out by introducing myself. I'm about to be 24 this month and currently reside in Lexington KY as a getaway from the constant rush that NJ was. I purchased this BRZ last year in 2018 from a dealer. It is a 2015 Limited 6 speed with now 30k miles on it and extended gold plus warranty (LOL). Anyway I will be backtracking a lot as a bunch of stuff was done to this car so I will try to keep them chronologically ordered.

My main goal was to build a "JDM BRZ STI" where I would be using STI parts and replicating the JDM BRZ STI Sport to a certain point. (Seats are like 5k so that's out of the picture for now)

Here is my current mods list

Engine
  • JDL Turbo Kit with UEL header
  • PTP Turbo Blanket
  • ECUtek Tune (7psi/10psi maps)
  • PLM overpipe
  • Invidia resonated front pipe
  • Nameless resonated mid pipe
  • STI axleback
  • STI battery tie down
  • STI radiator cap
  • SPT oil cap
  • Greddy oil cooler
  • ACT clutch kit with lightweight flywheel
Suspension
  • STI 18x7.5 wheels
  • STI valve stems
  • STI wheel caps
  • STI flexible strut bar
  • STI strut braces
  • STI springs
  • JDM Showa shocks
  • Project MU lug nuts
  • JDM underbody panels
  • Whiteline differential bushings
  • Whiteline subframe bushings
  • Cusco transmission collar
Exterior
  • STI front lip
  • STI side skirts
  • STI rear aprons
  • STI diffuser
  • STI DRL extensions
  • STI fender inserts
  • STI front badge
  • STI rear badge
  • STI license plate cover
  • STI rear arch fins
  • STI gurney flap
  • STI door handle protectors
  • OEM JDM clear side markers
  • D4S mirror caps
  • TOM's JDM spec taillights
  • Valenti 5th brake light
  • Diode Dynamics always on DRL's
Interior
  • STI shift knob
  • STI push to start button
  • STI door sills
  • "STI" seat warmer plate *
  • JDM padded speaker covers
  • JDM padded knee pads
  • JDM frameless mirror
  • Cusco steering wheel
  • Alpine ILX007 headunit
Here is a picture when I first got it !

Here will be some picture of it now;

Thank you! I will be including a bunch of picture in this thread and will include the frameless mirror for sure! Really great mod especially that it gets rid of that bulky homelink system.

Things that happen right after I got the car

All these things happened between 19k to 30k miles which is what the car is at now

Issue number 1
Transmission, TOB, Clutch and Flywheel were replaced under warranty due to the car rolling in neutral a few feet forward

Issue number 2
Window regulators and glass were replaced due to them being scratched from improper spacing on the roller of the regulator

Issue number 3
High pressure pump chirping like usual on our cars but this one sounded awful. Brought it to a dealer and it was replaced under warranty.

Issue number 4
Clunking while turning, ended up being the EPS steering bushing. whole EPS steering column was replaced.

Issue number 5
Water in the trunk. Seam welds split (WTF!??!!?!?) in the trunk. Dealership resealed them and now no more water !

and I think that was it but I honestly can't remember.

So here we go, as I said I will have to back track a little as the current state of the car is different.

Here we have the STI lip kit installed along with some Konig Rennform wheels 18x8

SHOWA shocks and STI springs from Japan

STI fender garnishes

And now we move on to some power mods !!!!

My STI axle back came from Japan

JDL turbo install along with the ACT clutch

And the Valenti 5th brake light installed along with the STI gurney flap and TOM's JDM red taillights

BONUS PIC

Here is the BRZ next to my STI. I miss the STI a lot... ended up selling it for a huge profit and not having an actual practical car was a pain...

Nice selection of mods, the OEM+ look is always great. I imagine the turbo plus STi axleback is a good sound without being too loud... any chance you could take some videos?

I love the blob-eye STi! That would be a fun combo.

You found the tS' recaro seats for sale with shipping? Or did you mean just a price for red trimmed Recaro sportster CS's?

I can grab a video in a few days.Surprisingly the STI axle back is very quiet even without the turbo.

Here are some parts that I installed not too long ago;

JDM underbody aero panels. For the price and simplicity of installing I think everyone should grab a set.

STI Door Sills

STI Door handle guards

My favorite part, the JDM frameless mirror

STI Push to start

STI Front badge

STI Radiator cap
