It's been a while since I've updated this thread but the project is still going strong. I promise. Will have more updates to share in the coming week.

But I do have one really exciting update for today. @VeloxEric hooked me up with a prototype radiator!! This thing is awesome! It is a direct drop in replacement for the OEM radiator and the fit was absolutely perfect. This radiator uses a motorsport specific core technology that has a very high density. Because of it's ultra high efficiency construction a smaller, lighter core can be used and still be able to shed a massive amount of heat. The entire assembly without fans is only 5kg. It is the highest quality core I have seen this side of a $20k Mezzo unit. I don't typically share anything personal on the forum but to put this in perspective I feel like it should be noted that I spent years as a development engineer for what is arguably one of the most successful race teams in the world. Long story short, I've seen a lot of high quality parts. This ranks right up there with the best. I really hope it makes it to market because there is nothing else like it for this platform. Not even close.

Enjoy the pics!

Check out the difference in tube density between the CBR and Velox radiator. And the CBR is even much high higher quality than Mishimoto, etc.

About 2" additional clearance vs. oem shroud for those with a front mount turbo.

Made some really good progress this weekend. Welded an intercooler mount, mounts on the intercooler itself, and some piping. Also finalized a few drawings, confirmed fitment with 3D prints, and sent CAD to the machine shop. Getting real excited now things are coming together.

As of this weekend the BRZ is no longer my only form of transportation so now I can really get this project movin. It was quite the pain to have to start working on things Saturday mornings and have to put it back together Sunday nights to get to work Monday.

Neat shots showing design iterations of the turbo sump along with the final product (still needs AN bungs and the bottom welded on).

Exhaust mocked up and tacked together. Had to order a second regulator for my argon tank so I can back purge and finished welding everything.

Looks really good. How low is the turbo? Could be the angle but looks like its a bit lower than the transmission.

This is my favorite location for the turbo. I look forward to seeing your dyno curve. Love the design so far!

It is a bit lower than the trans. Its tucked in behind and slightly higher than the steering rack though.

Got some more parts in from water jetting

Mini washer fluid reservoir to make room for Velox brake ducts.

Can even keep the stock fill tube!

Mount and fan assembly for huge 40 row oil cooler.

Cooler is behind the cooling stack so I'm not really sure if it will be enough to keep it cool but I figured I would give it a shot (air doing the cooling will be hot from radiator and intercooler). Others have been successful keeping FI cars cool with much smaller coolers BUT they are getting much cooler air out front. There are a few reasons I wanted to try this placement 1) I really like the packaging. Oil lines are even a direct shot. There won't be any possibility of them rubbing on something and eventually leaking. 2) Cooler is very protected. In the case of hitting debris on the road or even track I would much rather lose boost due to an intercooler leak than lose oil and a motor. 3) I want the intercooler to get as much cool air as possible.

Love the progress. I also would like to keep my wash bottle around. Seems like a simple fix.
