Requesting advice/help...
Hey guys,
Hope you guys are staying safe. I ran into a couple issues over the course of past week and I'm really gutted. To start, I finally switched from winter to all-season tires on Wednesday...or atleast tried to do all of them. I successfully changed 3 but the driver rear had one bolt stuck. I loosened the bolt but I knew something was wrong as it was really hard. Finally, I loosened it enough but to my dismay, it started spinning freely on the stud and refused to come out. Tried a lot but couldn't. I took it to a shop and they were able to pull it out. I had forgotten that I had spacers on so the only silverlining is that the factory studs are fine. How exactly this happened is still a mystery, but I think it happened when 'discount tires' mounted the tires using an impact wrench last year and stripped the bolt and stud. I had it taken there for a tire repair. Anyway, the shop pulled the spacer and pulled the damaged stud out. See picture attached. It's gone! I had the shop put the spacer back on with 4 bolts and so the wheel is bolted with obviously 4 bolts. I've been on the hunt for an identical stud since yesterday to no avail. The spacers I have installed are 25mm H&R TRAK+. I believe the studs H&R use are longer than factory. I went to 5 different part shops and they weren't able to help me identify a similar one. Their catalog only lists studs by vehicle. What are my options here? Should I just get new spacers? Contact the manufacturer? Does anyone on here have these specific spacers that they are willing to sell!? I'd really like to avoid spending $140+ on new ones. Second thing that happened, I noticed a pretty decent sized dent under the driver side door. I think it was caused by the shop that I took my car to get the bolt out. Here is how I think it happened: I took my car to this shop and they lifted ONLY the rear using the lift. No idea why they didn't lift the whole car. Anyway, it seemed the lift hoist came in contact with the body panel under the door causing it. When I got the car back, I argued with the manager that I think they caused this. He was adamant that they didn't as there was absolutely no paint transfer from the bright yellow lift. And that was true. I didn't see any yellow. They may have cleaned it up when giving me the car back? I don't know! They are a very highly rated shop in the area so I let it go. Regardless, it's very noticeable. I have the pictures attached. I took it to three body shops and they all started to quote me for traditional body work and said this dent isn't PDRable (Paintless Dent Repair). Obviously, traditional body work is ridiculously expensive. And the were saying they have to pretty much do repaint the entire side of the car because it's all one panel. Like there is no break in the panel. But they'll send me quotes on Monday. I have the pictures of the dent attached. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5. What are my options here? Should I just some get cheap side skirts to hide the dent? Do you have any recommendations for some simple skirts or splitters? Thanks for reading such a lengthy post. Peace! As far as the dent, I'd suggest you check with a couple PDR persons. It looks to me like they could push/pull it out.
PS - I suggest you break up future post into bite sized pieces (even though it may be the same subject) so old, half blind guys like me can read it easier - |

honestly as for the spacers, i think your best option is to just start new, new spacers + new studs, its $140 take it as a lesson to not go to discount tire places as this happens all the time i also say start new because correct me if im wrong i havent actually heard of people changing the studs on a spacer so i assume its either very hard, or not worth the cost. As for the dent i would try one more time with the shop, if theyre highly rated maybe just talk to them and see if theyre willing to pay for a pdr or at the very least split the cost because shops like that LOVE their google reviews

I would just ignore that dent, it is not worth fixing or covering. Only a trained spy can notice it at a glance.
