I can't comment on what Cosworth is planning to do. But, I can say that they appear to be both blessed and cursed by their degree of excellence. In order to release something to the market, they have to go through a vigorous qualification phase. Every part has to work perfectly every time. I have never seen another company (other than mine) go through such a vigorous testing phase.

Before a product can be released to the market, it must go through a scientific R&D process and then qualification testing. I appreciate how Cosworth took apart the FA20 engine and stress tested each part and determined what this engine can and can not handle in terms of stress. They have designed all of their components to stay within expected engine tolerances so that they get the most performance without blowing engines.

I have seen thread after thread of Vortech, Edelbrock, etc. superchargers and turbos blowing our engines. Cars failing on the dynos or flying apart while getting on the highway... I have never seen a single report of a Cosworth car blowing the engine. Except for @weederr33 hitting a deer, I have never heard of another Cosworth car being taken off the road...

R&D takes time. Qualification testing takes time. I appreciate what Cosworth does more than any other engine manufacturer/developer. If I had one word of criticism though, it would be 'communication'. There are a lot of people who are ready to wait for Cosworth to release their next product or upgrade... But we would at least like to know that we are not waiting forever. I want to upgrade my wife's 2015 WRX to a Cosworth system. I'm holding off on the Cobb in hopes that Cosworth will release something. Except for a single youtube video, I have no other confirmation that Cosworth is working on anything for this car. Do I upgrade through another company or do I wait for Cosworth?

If Cosworth would at least provide regular updates on R&D, I think more people would be willing to hold off on 3rd party upgrades while waiting for the best... So how about it? Why not start a blog or open a twitter account to let people know what Cosworth is working on @Matt@Cosworth?

Car is back in the drive way and running like a champ! Outside the intake box being replaced (and needing a new Cosworth sticker @Matt@Cosworth), nothing with the engine was damaged. The Deer failed in it's futile attempt of destroying my car. hehe

As for the development on Stage 3, I can honestly say, after getting a better scope of the cost of building my motor... I'm not ready for it. So please do take your time Cosworth! I'd rather it be just right.

This should give you enough room to remove the factory overpipe and get the Cosworth midpipe in place.

The hard part for me was removing the factory overpipe. The heat shields make it a little hard to remove. But if you jack up the engine enough to get the factory overpipe out, the Cosworth should go in just fine.

No lift needed but it would be easier if you had one. If you haven't installed any of the exhaust yet, I would remove all the factory exhaust and then start by installing the Cosworth midpipe first and then working your way back. Do the axleback last and you will have more room.
Make sure you open the hood otherwise it get really tight if you have the supercharger.

1.2 exhaust

Just got the Pipes installed .
Found a lift to use for $100, glad i didn't try to do
that in my driveway !
Sounds Great!! Not too loud for normal around town.
Took wife for drive without telling her about exhaust,
she didn't notice any thing until i jumped on it 7000rpm
then you can tell!
Great!!
Now to install the rest of 1.2 stuff.

They are working on stage 3 and there has been hints. There was an open day here in the UK at a new tuning firm and the cossy car there have a new throttle body and built internals....

I think part of the problem with slow progress is that Cosworth have higher priorities in motorsport and oems which is their bread and butter, so with limited resources they have to prioritise. Whats amazing is the level of support from matt et al. Ive had emails in the middle of the afternoon on a sunday which I doubt he gets paid for.

Try ordering a brake kit from AP racing UK, in the middle of the F1 season....

Sounds very odd. Unless you didnt fit the new belt 😂 check the belt is the correct length and not slipping.

It turns out, it's just so damn cold here lately (~20 F) that my car flooded when I tried to start it this morning after putting the belt on. I feel like an absolute dumbass.

Seems odd. Mine never had any trouble starting at -4C, admittedly its not that cold very often in my part of the UK.

It is odd. It's never happened before. But that seemed to be the only issue. I drove it 30 miles to work and no check engine lights.

So I took my Perrin oil cooler off (as I don't track my car and don't feel it's necessary), but I'm going to replace it with the "OEM style" oil cooler/ regulator. Has anyone else done this set up with the Cosworth kit? I think I saw a few who had something like it on the UK forums.

I feel this will answer some common questions I've seen and also pretty cool for anyone interested in the kit!

I ordered all the parts needed for the OEM Forester oil cooler. Should be here Friday. I wI'll post up some pictures of the set up and hopefully get some logs of temperatures both with and without the cooler. I'll be coupling this with the Beatrush vented under panel.

I have the oem oil cooler and it seems to work well, but I don't have the supercharger. The hardest part was installing the small metal coolant tube on the driver's side of the engine. It's optional, but I recommend it. Some people don't use this tube and use a rubber hose instead. I feel that over time the hose may wear through as it rubs against the frame.

Just be sure none of your coolant lines are able to rub holes in them. It may take some repositioning to get them right.
