Just looked. I bought it on Steam in a sale in 2014, played it for 32 minutes and hated it so much I never played it again. I almost never do that (not finish I game I started).

Now I don't remember what I didn't like but I definitely didn't like it. May have to try it again at some point.

Frankly they can delay it as many times as they want. It's already been in development for 8 years so another 6 months isn't a big deal.

Plus, the game is completely done already, so they're going to be doing nothing but polishing and play testing for the next 6 months. That's amazing! It's going to be an incredibly solid release as a result, I'm expecting Half-Life 2 levels of polish and production value.

Remember how big of an impact HL2 had and how incredible it was for it's time when it was first released?

I believe you but the vr thing keeps me away. I'm just not convinced there are enough AAA titles to make the investment worthwhile.

Please say you played it with a controller. (Funny side note, my phone wanted to autocorrect "controller" to "condom"...)

Two reasons I can think of to not like the original were difficult/finicky controls and timing, and relatively 1-dimensional levels. I thought the story was pretty good once you got used to the gameplay. It's one of those things that you have to pay attention to the background chatter to know what is going on, but that's hard when you are trying to bounce up two walls to get to that crossbeam so you can swing to the ledge over there. The levels themselves can also get frustrating if you can't figure out a puzzle or do something in time. They aren't easy.

Anyway, in Catalyst you can explore the open world city more as you unlock sections, though the main missions are mostly a single line and/or puzzles. You are still limited to rooftops for the most part but it's fun just getting from a to b in new and interesting ways. Plus, I think they backed off the precision needed in the controls, probably due to better predictions of what the player means to do.

The more they delay it, the more justifiable buying new hardware to play it will be lol. My PC is from 2013, though I refreshed it in 2018 (GPU, RAM, OC+cooling).

I've been playing Deus Ex Revision (A Steam approved mod) for 78 hours and I have been continuously reminded of what an awesome game Deus Ex was/is. Every time I launch it the theme music haunts me back to the first time played it.

Absolutely. It's the only thing worth playing on VR once you have played it. I can't play Skyrim in VR anymore because of how bad it it compared to HL:A. The cost of entry is still high, but damn it's unlike any other experience I've had gaming.
