Each 86 comes with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS-P) - a suite of advanced safety features which include: Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, Pre-*Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist - at no additional cost.

I'm pretty sure the 2019's don't have them. If they did, I would have waited till this year instead of buying my 86 in 2018. More safety gear the better.
I'm assuming the platform isn't set up for that stuff, especially since we're dealing with a mix of Subaru and Toyota components. The time + cost of figuring out a solution that isn't crap is probably out of the question for this gen.

Also, "free." Blah, the cost is baked into the final price.

I'm okay with blind spot monitoring and automatic high beams, but nothing better take control of the wheel or apply the brakes without my input.

The car came out (and has been pretty much the same since) when the Star Safety system was the norm in Toyota cars.

all the new fangled Toyota Safety Sense stuff (which really became standard like 2 years ago) was not implemented in this car.

And that one has forward visibility issues...only way can be driven is with the top down because the top frame of the windshield is right in my face blocking half my view and my head would be pushing up against the top with it down. Have to bend way down and tilt head way up with face nearly against glass to see a traffic signal... LOL

Barely fit in the FR-S comfortably with aftermarket seat and head a fingers thickness from the headliner. Still have to lean a little bit forward and down and look up to see most traffic lights. At least the windshield lets me see above the horizon a little. 6'2" with long torso.

More about the forward and side visibility... looking sideways in a camaro is almost like looking ahead in a miata for me...slightly better.

This. I don't want a computer attempting to override my inputs. It seems as if that would cause more issues than it's worth.

Don't know about the Toyota package but at least hers allows you to turn off each thing desperately so you can pic and choose what you want.
The biggest drawback so far is the thing is massive and takes up a good chunk of windshield real-estate. When it makes a difference in that massive chunk of glass in the Impreza I can't imagine what it would do to visibility in the FRS
Had a couple of people say it looks light lights in a cop car.
Yep that's eyesight, the mazda systems are much smaller I'll take a picture in the day light and are just as effective.

It isn't as invasive as I thought it would be. You could force it to drive into a wall but it would scream at you constantly. In most cases it doesn't act as long as there is some sort of input.

Can only really notice it on my mazda in the frost, but after the snow today I took a pic, other companies seem to do a better job of integrating radar and lidar all throughout the body than subaru I guess. The camera controls alot and it's been just as good as the ascent I test drove with all the safety nannies. The huge mazda logo on the front of these cars houses alot of radar and lidar equipment. So I guess that's how they get around using two cameras:
