They will do it. They are very happy about this move in the united states as I have spoken with them already about design, engineering and moving forward with other platforms already.

"We want to put as many of these kits as we can on the market"

They are striving for the two way mono tube kits for newer chassis model cars and this car falls directly in the middle of their business model.

Its a fantastic damper anyways.

If they need someone to do the testing, we can do that no problem. We've tested Ohlins TTX kits on a different platform, JRZ, KW, TEIN 2-way for BRZ/FRS and pretty much all the 1-way setups for this platform.

Well doesnt sound like you need me to send you the contacts as you are in the same business. Just express your desire to help them design the kit. They are anxious to move ahead with them. I dont work much with this platform so it would be too time consuming.

A gentleman (member here) who worked with Bilstein USA on the first prototype B14s told me the exact opposite. He expressed that the US business had no interest in bringing these coils to the USDM. This was because Germany thought all the US folks cared about was being low. It's nice to hear they may have changed their minds!

If people are willing to fess up to the cost, it will become feasible, just like the Ohlins 2-way setup. We prefer Bilstein develop a high quality system that requires very little need to revalve. Everything is great in theory and planning until it is put into action. Schedules get over run and costs may exceed planned budget over time if the R&D doesn't go too smoothly. What you're left with is a unit that has a much higher cost than what you will originally want to have.

Exactly and in a market where their are already 10+ coilover kits available they may very easily pass on the opportunity. Either way you guys have done a great job bringing what you did to the table so the community should be happy with that as it is

It is true there are many options available on the table, but there are only a few that actually work fine to improve on the platform and even less to improve upon at a very high level. We are confident Bilstein can bring something extremely athletic to the table, but whether it will be in stone, that's harder to tell. As long as there is a market for it, I'm sure Bilstein will come out with a very well designed kit for the guys looking for the very best in their cars.

You hit the nail on the head. Many people unless your deep in the industry know. That their are many many companies that design and manufacturer suspension coilover kits but their are less than a hand full that actually design a kit that performs good enough to help knock time off at the track.

Does drilling the top mount compromise the integrity of the rear suspension any? I am in the process of installing my B16s and am contemplating whether to drill the mounts.

Thanks

These are great! Any idea when Billstein is going to come out with a lowering spring kit?

I finally got around to installing them last week and they're working great. I don't exactly remember but I think the diameter difference was a mere 2mm. You can't really install it without drilling unless you want to buy aftermarket ones that either come with or can be customized to 12mm. Also, if you don't like noise, then the stock mounts are really the only way to go.
