Interesting, everyone else I've talked to (including Method) says they won't fit.

Interesting on the Methods. I would really be interested in what Braid has to say.

Weasel Soup on this forum is using Team Dynamics, 15x6, 5x100, +25mm offset. That was what I was going to go with. TD seem to be about the same price as Braid, but I personally think the Braids are cooler.

I did a test fit on the +48 methods and it seemed to clear (no tire so the suspension wasnt loaded). The VTspec2 might have a different barrel.

With that said, based on some recommendations I decided to go with the high offset +15's and they don't clear the tie rod without a small spacer oddly enough. More camber would pull it away slightly as well.

Its super aggressive but with a 3/8 lift spacer on stock suspension, I didnt make contact with my fender in the first rallycross of the season out in Utah.

That's helpful, thanks!

I'm starting to walk again and drove my car for the first time in 3 weeks this morning.

Don't want to hurt myself in the shop so I have to get one of the other guys to do some work for me for the next phase.

I dropped all the splash guards to chase down an exhaust leak and found a bunch of clay from last year's rallycross events.

Can't wait for these springs to be ready :thumbup

Updates coming soon. I did a lot of research and talked to the right people while recovering from my ACL surgery. Learned a ton trying a few different things with my modified SS1 coilovers and finding limits with them + stock.

Next phase of testing underway now that I'm walking mostly like a normal person.

Spring specs essentially finalized. Will post more soon.

Random pic of car in Japan with the Enkei RC-G5 wheels. I have no details on this car, just posting the pic.

Planning on a rallycross event August 10th for testing. My leg was too busted (ACL recovery) for the May event and I had to miss the June event. No July event on the calendar. I apologize for this taking so long, but we really want to do it right!

Still on customized RCE SS1s, which have gone through a few different phases at this point.

I am having fun though.

Lots of good testing this past weekend! Finally got the car out to a RallyX event so I can get some real gravel time. Generally we can get a feel for an auto-x or track car in a few turns, but RallyX is a very different experience. This was a great learning experience.

(classic crossing finish line with head sideways pic)

The suspension setup for this event was stock struts + stock springs and 3/8th inch lift spacers. Tires were 205/55/16 Blizzaks on 16x7 Enkei RPF1. Very easy to overload the front tires on entry if you're not careful and deliberate with your inputs (as expected). Putting power down in the dirt wasn't that difficult, but little patches of grass make things pretty interesting, even with the steering wheel straight.

The course started getting a little rutted in the afternoon and I was worried about debeading a tire. Thankfully that didn't happen. No concerns about insufficient ride height in the morning session, but we started thinking about it later with the bigger ruts. No detectable front or rear bumper scrapeage in the end. So the ride height from the lift spacers is okay in that regard at this site, but of course they do nothing for anything other than clearance.

More bump travel would make a big difference, as would altered spring rates to help the car rotate and let the front bite more easily. Front bumpstops are doing way too much on this type of surface. Bilstein B6 dampers would be a significant upgrade...but the OEMs were okay.

(very fun course, not nearly sideways enough here though)

Anyway, my times were very slow. I did get about 2 or 3 seconds faster each run in the morning session, but still slow. This was my first event and I was focused on feeling the car in different corners with different inputs, not times (I only hit 2 cones in ~12 runs, so I was keeping it pretty tidy). Also, I apparently knocked a lower strut mount crash bolt loose when I did start to focus on going fast, so the car and alignment got a little wonky in the afternoon. I should make inserts so that doesn't happen. Still, I have a lot to learn when it comes to driving fast on dirt, which I may end up doing a lot of now.

So yeah, I might make a habit of this rally-x thing. It was an absolutely awesome time. Just as importantly, Myles (RCE boss) was there and really enjoyed the event and miiight codrive with me next time. Also just as importantly, my special lady friend had a blast too and made some friends. That was very much not expected.

(rear ride height may end up right around here, front a little higher)

Going to try to confirm fitment on BRAID 15 inch wheels without spacers this week. If that's a no go, I'll get the Enkeis RC-G5s. Hoping to have gravel tires for the next event.

As for what's next with the RCE RallyX/Safari project? I know it's been a long process and everyone has been very patient. We got what we needed from the customized RCE SS1 coilover setup, the stock + lift spacers, and now we can move on to the next step. This is something we want to do right, which means testing. It's been a little more time consuming with this project for a variety of reasons (including my ACL tear and surgery). But this was one more important step in the right direction. We're getting there.

@Racecom Engineering: Winter tires on gravel? Hmm, actually never considered, which normal street tires would work better on gravel paved roads/tracks. From generic non sport/non gravel street tires thinking that maybe allseasons might do better then winter tires, as also should have winter tire like more sipes/thread groves, yet with rubber compound better suited to temps, no? No clue what some atv/suv/mud tires might be or not available for our wheel sizes and thus maybe considered for extra grip at rallyX (do they regulate tire choice?) ..

Will the rally coilovers be ready for winter? I want to swap out my CSG Tein SRC's during the snow season.
