so, just got a call from dealer. im at 90k km and I wanted to get the spark plugs done. the dealer said that scion messed the change cycle up, and toyota has upped it to like 180/190 thousand km due to the type of spark plugs used. they are in process of changing this info internally in the maintenance schedule.

your thoughts on this?

Sounds reasonable to me. Most cars with iridium plugs are speced around 100k miles.

I changed them at 62k miles, they looked clean and could lasted at least 25k or so more miles

Sounds right... iridium tip spark plugs last a very long time. I have 127k km on my car and don't plan on changing until at least 170-180, maybe even 200 if I drive her that long. I also never fill up at discount gas stations, hopefully my plugs stay cleaner longer.

This car also calls for getting the fuel filter replaced, don't plan on doing that ever

I would check with corporate.

According to Toyota Canada website for MY2018 (and Toyota USA fwiw) they are still due at 60,000 miles/96,000km

For anyone coming across this thread recently, why is the obvious answer here not aftermarket shops? Like Rigo Garage or Patterson Performance where I'm at in El Paso. Almost any major city has shops like this, and lucky for me Patterson specializes in boxer engines. Just do some research. If you don't want to go the dealer route (who would?) and don't have the time/tools to rock it yourself, it's the blatantly clear option.
