Phill is a good driver and has been doing this for a while. Also those Mini's are fast even when STX prepped they are hard to beat (this could be more because cheater tune). More seat time will definitely help.

You'd have had to get into the 53s range to beat Phil, which would have put you ahead of Ryan who drove the same car as David, isn't slow, and had a co-driver to put some heat into his tires.

You've also got the automatic gearing penalty (I'm not sure what the difference is in 1st and 2nd, but when I test drove an automatic it seemed slower). You're doing well, don't let the bastards ahead of you bring you down, ideally they should be pulling you up.

It'll be cool to see everyone out at the Club Trials tomorrow, I'm getting excited.

This was my best run from the SCCA AX. Having heat in the tires on both sides of the car really helped lol.

The Club Trials on Sunday at MSR Cresson were a ton of fun. I didn't quite hit my goal of getting into the 1:27's, but I did manage to improve my personal best by a couple of tenths for an official (but not on video) 1:28.3 on the 1.7CW.

My best lap was during the fifth and final session but I managed it after my video stopped recording for some unknown reason. I ended up winning the "Street Touring Class 1" which includes STX, STS, and STF (the unofficial sheet included a TTC prepped S2000 as an STX car, who edged me out in the last session but I was assured that he was not scored as an STX car despite what the timing sheet said).

Brad and Jen Maxcy had to leave early after overheating their BMW during the 3rd session (they were both driving the car so it was doing back to back 20min sessions with a 40min break in between).

My best recorded lap:

NTAXS is offering a registration package for the rest of this season's events, so if you want to go but are always late with registration this is your chance to guarantee yourself a spot (36 out of 65 spots are spoken for in the pre-registration already).

I managed to snag a spot at the NTAXS event today, and it was a blast. I managed 4th in class 1 and 13th overall. I managed to beat both Armstrong and Ken O (Armstrong was on RS-4's). My Bridgestones are completely shot, I had planned on replacing them today before I made it into NTAXS.

We had a hell of a showing at last Sunday's SCCA autocross. The STX class was the fastest and most competitive class of the entire event. The twins managed the top 3 odd places (1st bslate, 3rd Shneegle, and I took 5th).

I was a little disappointed with my 5th place finish; however, I managed 14th in PAX which is pretty good.

My Runs:

ER's annual Mirror Cross was once again a little bit of hectic event; however, even with a splattering of rain and the difficulties of essentially running two concurrent events, it was a ton of fun.

I managed to take the win over Shneegle in STX while finishing 8th in overall pax (shneegle managed 11th, both very strong showings). I was a bit worried since I red lighted my fastest right side run by 0.012s which ended up costing my over a half second.

More amazingly, my raw time was the 5th fastest overall, and I am pretty sure that both the pax and overall finishes are new personal best finishes with ER.

I'm currently using some Project Mu HC 800+, my last set were Hawk Street/Race, and before that some Stoptech Street Pads. I've got a set of Ferodo 2500's that are either up next or being sold (I just got an AP Racing Sprint Kit that uses a different pad design).

Autocross isn't too hard on brakes, in fact, race brakes won't get enough heat to work in many autocrosses. Bigger issues for autocross are: initial bite, cold stopping power, and brake feel.

The Stoptech's were great for autox, but don't hold up to track duty. Both the Hawks and Project Mu worked great for both autox and trackdays; however they are louder on the street and tougher on rotors.

Thanks man. I'm running the stoptech pads for the street which i like, but figured I needed different track pads. Would you recommend the Project Mu HC 800+ or the Ferodo 2500's? I am running a bit more power than stock, about 305whp on a dynojet and 255/35/18 summer tires.

I haven't used the Ferodo's yet (from my research, they should be as good or better than the Project Mu's and Hawk pads I've tried so far), but I got good use out of the Project Mu's (5 or 6 trackdays and 20 or so autocrosses). I never had any problems with them, but I'm close to stock power and have pretty good brake discipline and mostly ran them at MSR Cresson (I had them at TWS a couple of times too) which isn't overly tough on brakes.

I know Shneegle uses Carbotech's (XP8-XP12 should work, it's up to you to pick where you need to be with your setup, experience, and planned usage).

I've been trying different pads to see what works best for what I do (daily driving, autox, and trackdays), which is why I haven't run the same pad twice. The Hawks had huge initial bite, but were a little loud on the street and ate through the stock rotors pretty quick. The Project Mu's don't have quite the same bite but have about the same stopping power and are not as hard on the rotors.

You might be able to overpower these type of "hybrid" pads on track. I couldn't with under 200whp. You might need to get some dedicated track pads and swap them at the track.
