Easiest way to prime oil system
I'm mainly looking to do a prime to get fresh oil to my new turbocharger. I want to cut fuel and spark so I can crank the engine for 15-20 sec to prime the oil system, oil cooler, etc.
I can easily enough unplug the 4 coilpacks, but I'm not sure the best plan to cut the fuel. Pull fuel pump relay? Some way in ECUTEK to do it? Anyone have any tips? |

Pretty sure if you push the gas pedal down while cranking, the car wont start.

^^^ can confirm. All the way down is flood-clearing mode. I do it at every oil change because I'm one of those people.

will just swinging the engine without starting be enough to bring the oil up through the turbo feed line?

Yes. Owner's manual warns 10 seconds max. That seems like a painfully long time to crank the engine.

Because that's easier than pushing the gas pedal?

Just a question but cant oil just be added into the block using a funnel in the oil filters barb to help prime the oil pump on a clean fresh block?

Fresh block should have assembly lube and a full pan, so priming without starting should be enough. Pouring oil through the filter hole wont really get it in the pump, since it's a positive displacement pump and nothing will flow through it without it moving. At least that's what I think. |

I've never bothered but murdoc's almost there.
1. Fresh build has assembly lube. 2. Pouring downstream of a positive displacement pump. Now, if one were so inclined, one could pump/pour some oil down the center. That's the output of the filter. Is it worth it? Meh. That part drains down anyhow. Think about when you change your filter. Bone dry in there. Lubrication system: General, System Diagram, Details
