It is an improvement.
Come on now, some of us are trying to bash GM in here.

It seems like a crap shoot whether you car will have the rattles or not. Some people just get lucky but most don't.
Some of the issues I have been able to fix:
Radio trim creaking - felt tape near middle of radio/trim contact
Seat belt hold rattle - felt tape in button
Window switch rattle - felt tape along switch/door panel contact
A-pillar squeak - felt tape on speaker grille contact corner
Shifter rattle - thicker washer on bottom linkage

Things not yet fixed:
Windows clunking over bump regardless if they are up or down
Glove box rattle - slight pressure solves this
Hand brake button cable rattles in assemble
Gauge cluster rattle - tried tape but no dice, pressure sometimes helps

I don't expect the car to be silent but the above issues are irritating noises. In some of the cases above felt tape was already in place by Subaru, but didn't do the job. My previous car was a 2014 WRX (2nd owner, 1 year old at 14k miles) and that was the king of squeaks and rattles... the BRZ was much quieter than that stock.

You must have got a Friday car! I have none of those. Well, I don't hear them if I do at any rate.

I'm with you on this....

I'm beginning to think I must need to get my hearing checked, probably from too many years of not riding in Rolls Royce quality quiet cars.

Pretty much I expect a car who's cost falls in the bottom third of the price range for new vehicles, and represents the low end of genuine sports cars, to have some noises. I'd almost be disappointed if it was totally quiet because that meant they wasted design and test time on that rather than go fast parts.

In general I can't say my '13 has none. I know of two. The rear deck squeak that is pretty common, and I have a front dash squeak. This one is caused by the strip on the dash right where the windshield meets. There is a strip there that is lifted on the driver side. It occasionally rattles.

Both of those could be fixed if I took the time to do it. Frankly I barely notice them except every once in a while.

It probably was a Friday car with my luck.

I'm glad yours doesn't and hopefully it doesn't develop any!

I had the rear deck rattle which I fixed by bending a metal tab towards the front of the car. From this thread here.

I currently have a vibration coming from somewhere in the dash and intermittently get the shifter rattle.

The shifter rattle is loud and noticeable by passengers immediately. I will look into the thicker washer.

Not sure yet where the dash noise is coming from.

To be fair, if the second gen information has been this quiet it must mean the build quality of the second gen car is much better!
NO RATTLES CONFIRMED!

I heard it will have a LS1, and auto.

I also heard that they are marketing rattles as the new ICE.

The aftermarket sector for rattle gains is going to be huge, I'm going to reinvest all of my money in development and production of rattle upgrades.

My ‘13 BRZ has a few rattles, not a lot, but it doesn’t worry me too much. I expect it to have a few being the lightest and least refined. 1216kg tare mass vs 1242kg tare mass for the latest model. Either model is still very light by today’s standards.

Rattles!?! How the heck could I hear a rattle when the first thing I do after pulling out of the garage & closing the garage door, I slap in a CD and turn up the volume.

Upgrade to THE At not to AT.

Same old recycled shit started by Motor1. Just 4 more repeats before my prediction of 12 articles posted here is complete.
