Didn’t work. Literally zero difference, but worth a try.

Perhaps you aren’t doing it right? Syncros aren’t needed at all if you’re double clutching. Double clutching doesn’t simply mean press the clutch two times.

1. Press clutch
2. Move from 6th to N
3. Release clutch
4. Rev
5. Press clutch
6. Move from N to 5th
7. Release clutch

A normal rev match really does nothing because it only spins the flywheel. By reving in N with the clutch out you are spinning the input shaft and therefor matching the speed of to input shaft to the speed of the output shaft which eliminates the job of the syncros. If you still get a grind then you didn’t match correctly.

Edit: And here is a video that explains it much better than I have. I also left out his first step (lift off the throttle) because I thought that was kind of obvious.

Yep, did it like that. Revving and not revving. It really makes no difference. The only way to make it not grind is to have significantly slowed the car to such a speed that shifting to 5th is not necessary like I could skip to fourth or lower; or to hold the clutch in, and super slowly press the shifter forward to the point of resistance then hold with mild pressure until the shifter resistance lessens, and then press slightly more until it goes into gear, almost like one would do when slowing and waiting for the car to go slow enough to get the gear into 1st. There is no going fast with any technique without the gear/synchro grinding from 6th to 5th on my car.

Not sure how I missed this thread.. just saw it today for the first time, read the first post/novelette and page or two, and not sure what to think. Won't watch the video.. life's too short.

FWIW.. I'm at 70K miles on a 2013 and it shifts and drives perfectly. I can't recommend the dealership I bought it from (5 hours south from my place), but the local dealership has been absolutely great. Warranty repairs have been resealing the cam coverplate twice, the timing cover recently, a TSB for window seals, all with no charge and no hint of arguing. Of course, I take it there for routine maintenance, got to know the service manager, and am polite and grateful for their work. They did tell me they didn't feel that replacing the brake fluid at 30K, the diff and tranny oils and plugs at 60K were necessary, but they were more than willing to do it at my request, and did for a reasonable price. Once my warranty wears out, I'll take over the maintenance. It pays to develop a relationship with a good dealership. Yes, in an ideal world, everyone should receive great service at every dealership even if you've never been there before, but walking into one fully loaded for bear isn't the best foot on which to start off, eh?

Need to read further. It just keeps getting better and better.

Tap the signal wires together and you don't have press the clutch anymore

You should know better than to just say that on here.

You need at least a two page DIY with pictures and videos.

Might be a bit more then 2 pages. Would have to write up the clutch pedal install first

And don't forget to explain how an electrical circuit works. Three or four times.

Still sounds like you are not doing it right or not timing it right. You say it's just like 1st were you have to slow enough to get it in gear. I throw mine in first near redline with zero resistance, but only with a double clutch. Otherwise it's like a brick wall until your around 15mph or so.

But in an autox it's very common to throw it in 1st at 25mph and most cars don't do this well without double clutching.
