TIL two things about the county I currently live in.

1. A bunch of locals burned down the house of an old woman in the late 1600s because it was her fault that the winter was cold. She fled into the woods and froze to death.

2. A bunch of locals attempted to ambush the only man in the county that voted for Lincoln, which then turned into a firefight, or as much of one as you can have in the 1800s. Anyway the dude apparently survived and went home.

Track = Helmet. Full stop.

But this was not a timed event or competition... it was learning to drift in my car. And to be quite honest, I found it strangely peaceful to perform the clutch kick, find myself sideways, release the wheel, and control the slide by modulating throttle - once I learned how. One of the hardest parts was actually relaxing and "letting go" of the wheel - e.g. not fighting the car in the initial seconds. And music definitely added to the experience. Perhaps if it were a competition I would have been more focused, but in all honesty I was trying to maximize my pleasure and it was a blast.

Guess I'm just a boring hamster wannabe poser.

Today I also learned I need to improve my drifting skills, and adjust my parking brake, before entering any drift competition in Japan. They can really tease the sashimi out of you.

Yesterday and TIL that if you are taking a PPI (Protein Pump Inhibitor) to control GERD, peptic ulcers or and H. pylori, DON"T stop all of a sudden!

My supply of Omeprazole ran out Saturday (on a 3 day weekend of course) AND the prescription needed a doctors authorization for a refill.

I thought I could get by till Tuesday, until I ate a sandwich for lunch yesterday, laid down to take a nap and promptly threw up all over my pillow. -

YUCK! I haven't done that since I gave up the hard drugs -

So, this morning I crawled up to the pharmacy and begged my main squeeze there to advance me a few pills till the subscription is filled. This afternoon I started feeling better.

THAT"S ALL FOLKS!
