Maybe he lives near one of the other thousands of limestone quarries that underlie the other 2/3 of Indiana -

I'll clearify my last sentence by saying there's no way he has hard water if he lives in NW Indiana. So yeah,it's probably a good chance he lives in another part of the state that doesn't get it's water from Lake Michigan.

I was given some performance pack Sachs dampers by a friend for helping him through tough times and being his go to for getting his car fixed. I didn't ask for them but after we installed his coilovers he knew I wanted them and told me to take them.

They have been through a couple Vermont winters and were thrashed by road salt. Good as new now!

Just a little touching up and they'll be perfect! They're also getting fitted with Eibach pro-kit springs.

I ended up heading to the Remark site and ordering the 2.5' type 3 gasket (4'' tall by 5.3 wide). Was a pain in the arse ordering anything to fit from the dealership, after 3 months and 2 wrong gaskets, Remark had it to me in just under 2 weeks (across the border to me in Canada, so not bad)

Nope, not Lake Michigan water here near Muncie. I have well water. And our property is surrounded by farmland. I don't know what all they put on corn & soybean fields these days, but I'd have to imagine we get lots of runoff collecting in the well aside from the normal well water issues. Tastes just wonderful - even with the water softener there's plenty of rust left, I'd imagine plenty of other wonderful things too. (We usually use refillable gallon jugs for drinking/food water, but not so much since we've been avoiding going out in public.)

The garden hose of course doesn't get treated water anyway. I have an RV filter on it, but that doesn't help much. And there are always some pretty big dark "particles" in the rinse bucket if I fill it with water from the hose. Good thing I bought a black car so I can see all the swirl marks (and water spots) I give it even when taking many precautions.

Installed a new fourth brake/reverse light. Just need to finish up the wiring so that I get the brake light in it as well and it's good to go.

Got the windows tinted today. Usually done/included at time of purchase around here, but was not due to CV19 reductions in staffing. Looks much better now!

Not much, but I ended up replacing the plastic engine cover for my car after accidentally breaking the tab on the original one. Washed her, got a new detailing kit and can't wait to use it soon.

Also found a paint chip on the hood =(

Ordered up a new "Package Tray Trim Panel Assembly" and third brake assembly that the tint shop destroyed.

I had confidence these guys wouldn't butcher my baby...they do 86's for our dealership whenever we sell one. But sure enough while driving to work this morning (a week after taking the car back from the tint shop) I hear my third brake light rattling. A quick look in the rear view mirror shows me that the third brake isn't sitting right in its little pedestal...closer inspection shows me the full extent of what happened.

They ripped the brake assembly out, wrecking the clips and wiring to the light (which I assume isn't lighting up anymore, but that's besides the point, the housing itself needs replacement and the light and assembly are one piece). Also, the "tray trim panel" and the third brake pedestal are one piece...they apparently didn't know or care to investigate about that, so they tore the pedestal from the tray, and attempted to RTV or urethane the whole thing back together.

In the end, they might have gotten away with it had they actually clicked the clips/fasteners for the trim panel itself, but they didn't--which is why it was flopping around rattling on the glass.

They are paying for the parts.

I am always apprehensive about sending my car to a shop for work. More often than not, they find a way to mess something up

Didn't mention anything before, but I'm trying to install some extended wheel studs.

Got both rear axle nuts off today thanks to a 6-point Pittsburg impact socket. For all the shit Harbor Freight gets, at least their shit works when necessary.

Now I'm stuck trying to separate the axle itself from the wheel hub. Took a mallet to it. Pretty sure I removed everything, including the sensor and hub bolts. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as it seems everybody else has had no trouble removing them. More force? Take a big ass chisel to it?

Suggestions appreciated. Don't want to pay a shop to do this and I'd rather learn to do things myself.
