Nope. The more I see that front end the more disappointed I get. I've never cared for the BRZ's "mouthguard" look. I appreciated how the FR-S/86 managed to subtly hide the bumper behind the grill. This takes the mouthguard and ups it to toothless gums.

Also, the new horizontal fins or whatever at the corners look a little too O'Reilly's stick-on for me. I don't think that look will age well.

The 2017 is a facelift, nothing more. And a minor one at that. It's not the end of the world. There will be things people like, and things they don't. We haven't even seen the real thing yet. So the front end is ugly...that's fixable. Could the extra few inches of width make it easier to mount an oil cooler? The headlights look great, the tail lights look pretty good, moving the 86 badge lower doesn't matter. The new alloys look good, but most "car people" swap them out anyway, so no big deal. I really don't see any other exterior differences of note. I see almost no difference with the rear end other than the tail lights.

There have been hundreds of part changes with our cars in the past 4 years that nobody sees. The factory tune has changed a few times, part suppliers modify their products when they see easy and cost effective improvements. I wouldn't be surprised if that 5hp increase has been creeping up on us, it hasn't been worth noting until now. Did the exhaust tip change 2 years ago give us 0.5 hp? (Did I read something about a header modification? Damn... this thread is too long, hard to keep track of speculation and reported fact) Point is, they certainly haven't done any engine changes worth noting.

The car has been evolving since day one, this time it's noticeable because of that ugly nose. Scion being dropped has nothing to do with anything. It would be exactly the same if the Scion brand still lived.

I'm curious about the transmission changes though. Shorter gearing would help a bit. Though I hope they leave 6th alone, I don't want to be reving at 3200rpm while doing 100km/h. Anyone using 6th gear on a track must live near LeMans.
@stevesnj beat me to the comparison pics (nice job btw), but I did some fantastic work with this great new state-of-the-art photo editing software called "paint"

I have ZERO picture editing skills but what if there was a fix for just the mustache? Mmmmaybe...?
Please somebody do this justice with Photoshop.

I've liked most of the Lexus stylings of late, though it took a bit to get used to. Perhaps the folks a Lexus should take a look before those mugfish bumpers start production. It's not too late.

it can creat more downforce in the front though, and I think this is the main reason.
Leads me to a question if that Fang actually help with air flow does it feed air into the car etc

I'm looking forward to people buying the revised model, then replacing the Toyota badge with a "retro" Scion badge.

What I also thought of is that, the nose would be where most people's front plate goes. for the Front plate state, with that nose out of the way. It might look better.

Also that nose the shape of it remind me alittle of the tip of the FT 1 nose. Technically isn't that something of F1 tech? lol

Now that you mention it, I do see a bit of an FT-1/Michael Jackson nose job.

Ah okay, just hard to understand since no one knows the weight, performance, handling characteristics. Just curious how since people don't like the look of the car that makes it worse performance wise.

Being facetious more than anything.Doesn't OP state the suspension was upgraded? You could assume it's "better", which is subjective anyways. 5hp is "better" but it's not the 50hp bump everyone was waiting for

Understood, I myself didn't think 50hp was even in the cards. 20hp most. I believe GRM will make parts for our cars since the market demands it. Would be nice.
