White tire lettering

I was able to pull off the white lettering on my current tire. The letters are embossed so it made cleaning up the overflow easy. I think it came out well.

Oil based tire pen from ebay, let it dry, then sanded the overflow off.

I think it looks great, almost like you are out on the road with your track tires.

I also like the look. Curious to know how it will hold up though.

I've always liked that look. Looks good with the white, and you're lettering isn't too big. Wonder what it looks like rolling?

looks good when fresh... unfortunately, every type of painted letters (oil pen, spray can, etc.) ive seen, they all turn brown and dingy after a couple weeks.

Very true what you're saying. I've used paint pens, I've used latex based paint, I've used different kinds of paint and nothing seems to be great. Either after a few days they get dirty and when you try to wash the dirt off you take up paint, or some of them that I've used don't even last a couple days of normal driving they just dry up and flake off.

Here's a picture of my car. I had painted the Falken logo on the tires maybe about a week and a half prior to this shot was taken, you can see it tends to rub and flake off:

I love the look once it's a couple of weeks old. It gives it a "race car" look.

Thanks @unsurety

I did this earlier in the month before a local meet/show, the lettering drastically changes the look of your car. One of my favorite mods by far.

Name: 00.jpg
Views: 8600
Size: 229.3 KB

Decided to use yellow for the lettering because as you will encounter like @ModBargains.com the white will indefinitely begin to brown. It only took an hour or so of aggressive driving for the lettering to flake off from the tires flexing. I'm thinking of going over with a paint that's more pliable, something rubber-based like plastidip or so.

Here's what I used: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Max-27014-Yellow-Marker/dp/B005UUQODW/"]Amazon.com: Hot Max 27014 Yellow Paint Marker, 1-Pack: Home Improvement[/ame]

Tip: I found it easier to apply by dabbing the paint on rather than trying to trace out the lettering. Dab the paint on a piece of cardboard, then dab it onto the lettering.
