Headlight polishing

My headlights have a lot of pits from debris, stones, and sand. (also my windshield). What is the best option I have to polish my headlights?

I own a g100 (meguar's version 1 brand polisher) and am well familiar with plastic-x, but are there any products that are better?

Also, I like the look of headlights when they have some kind of oiled or polished look like when I had new, is that possible to restore too?

I swear by the Novus line of plastic polishes.

Of course, if the pits are too dip, you have to sand the surface first to even it out. Note that for headlights, you will lose the anti-UV layer if you sand them and they may yellow out faster than normal.

Yep, from the factory all your clear plastics are clearcoated to protect from UV. Honestly doubt you'll get that original look back even if polished and recleared.
