I wish it was a little louder at idle, it might just be me but the sound of a car can't be beat.

As a less exact/scientific reference, a Porsche 911 GT3RS will fail this 'Laguna Seca' test if the stock mufflers have all of their noise suppression valves open. So if this is louder than a stock 911 GT3RS in sport mode then thats a bit too loud IMHO.
There are a lot of various factors that can go into sound level testing, such as the environment around the testing area itself, that can effect the reading you get.

I think that if Nameless does provide any info on db levels, they shouldn't be held responsible if people don't get those same readings at their track.

Sounds great with the full system. Have you noticed (seat of the pants feel) a reduction in the torque dip?

Drove the catless setup to work today. It is louder than the catted setup for sure imo, but I can see lots and lots and lots of people daily driving this setup. maybe even with less mufflerage on the axleback if they want louder. I'd prefer a tad quietter, I'm on the very shallow end of the loudness spectrum- I had a borla hush setup on my wrx with a catted downpipe just to keep the thing as quiet as possible.

After I do some more long term testing with the catless(just to show everyone that it's safe and I get no CELs), I think I want to go back to the catted setup to lower the volume some.

Anxiously waiting the dyno graphs on catted vs catless Jason!

oh and here is a video someone took of it at Drift Office's dyno during the 86 meet we had:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJc3-wHy6dw"]Drift Office BRZ dyno run - YouTube[/ame]

7 BRZ/FR-Ss showed up, with a wide range of different dyno results. There was a mostly stock AT BRZ that put down 170whp, and other cars that netted mid 150s. funny. Mine pulled 178whp SAE corrected with all the mods. Bob's car puts down high 160s. I'd love to see that car with these parts on it, maybe it'd be close to 190whp.

special thank you to Bob and Drift Office for the free dynos for everyone that came! Wonderful shop.

pictures from the event are in the thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6759

So the results are pretty interesting. We're seeing higher horsepower with the catless design, and higher upper range torque, but it all comes at the cost of low end power. Our thoughts on the next test are to run a catless 1.5"-1.625" tri-y design as well as a catless 1.5"-1.625"-.1750" triple stepped 4-1 design. The graphs I'm posting now show the Baseline stock car, then the 1.5"-1.625" Catted w/ Exhuast; 1.625-1.750" Catted w/ Exhaust and finally the 1.625"-1.750" Catless w/ Exhaust. Both of the catted designs have the 2.5" midpipe onboard, but in an independent test of that layout vs. catted 1.625-1.750 w/ stock midpipe, both were identical. So I think it's fair to say this is an apples to apples comparison despite the change of the midpipe.

Not too thrilled with the lower end torque losses, but to be honest, if you were running to redline then shifting, this design certainly puts more power to the ground than the catted setup. Shifting at a lower point is going to put you back into the torque dip (which isn't as ameliorated as it is in the catted system).

Like we have said a number of times before, we are committed to designing the best possible parts for these cars and offering options to our customers. We'll keep you all updated on as we take the 4-1 and small diameter 4-2-1 to the dyno.

If you could just tune out the upper rpm pig rich AFR I think the catless design would still be making power at redline. Interesting. Great job guys!

Very very happy looks like I will be going with either the red or blue set up... they are so similar! If there wasn't that slight difference in HP between 4.7k and 5.3k it would be red all the way! hmmm

Wait till we do the blue setup without a cat!! I think that may help immensely. We shall see. May also play with some runner length options.

Great progress! I like the current sound. I am eager to see the other catless builds you have in mind.
