I took time off for an extended 4 day weekend and did some detail therapy in preparation for spring/summer.

Here is the condensed version of what I did:
Full wash with high pH soap
Claybar
Iron-X decontamination
1-step polishing
1 Coat Jescar Powerlock+
2 Coats Collinite 845 wax
CarPro Flyby Forte to windshield
Full interior clean/detail
Switch back to summer wheels/tires

After about a week it will get it washed again and then topped with P&S Beadmaker for a final protective layer.

All in all about 20 hours start to finish. Not perfect by any means, but I learned a lot for next time and it looks amazing in the sun! Pictures do not do it justice.

Today my wife drove my BRZ to work. Because the m’fing pack rat is back and took out her perfect ‘17 Tacoma we bought new.

Grabbed a ScanGauge II on the way home from work (conveniently), and went at it. Fault code p21D4. Nothing on the internet, found a Ford document that says injector 6 open circuit, I can work with that.

Pull the intake, harness is chewed clean though at the connector. Injectors are on a sub harness I would be happy to replace, but they can’t be unplugged with the rail on. Jerks.

Fixing time. Might need supplies

So, after today the BRZ will have some additional gauges thanks to this $150 situation.

Why do rodents always seem to chew the most random spots possible? Like, why way up there? I would love to know what is going through their little rat brains.

Those two wires are missing a solid 1”. The 4 next to them are untouched. The only other damage I can find is a mangled ground clear on the other side under the power steering pump.

The BRZ was under the booster. Meanwhile, my ‘83 Toyota 4x4 is sitting 10’ away and hasn’t been invaded. Too many carcinogens in the wiring probably

You probably already know this but...
"A class-action lawsuit was filed in 2016 in California against Toyota claiming the company should cover — under warranty — damage from rodents chewing through insulation for wiring that is now soy-based versus petroleum-based."
https://www.freep.com/story/news/loc...les/578398002/

You should think about doing some of the things mentioned in the article or as others on here have done.

I've got the cat covered, poison traps, herbal things, cayenne spray, etc. I'll look in to it a bit more. Wish I could park in the garage, it's more of the kids lounge/RC shop/climbing wall/bike shop these days.

I did figure out what the cubby under the climate control is for, fits a ScanGauge II perfectly

It was a beautiful and warm sunny day here so I finally washed my car in I think over six months... then it started raining out of nowhere in the evening. All that effort wasted...

The damn weather forecast said it was supposed to be sunny all the way until next week!

You wouldn't happen to follow Obsessed Garage? Car looks great! I have been wanting to get some Beadmaker to try.

Thank you!

Yes I follow Matt and several other detailers on youtube. I can only dream of one day having the garage setup and cars he has.

It ended up raining on Tuesday so I rewashed on Wednesday and applied beadmaker. Pretty amazing slickness on the paint, looking forward to see how it holds up. Seems to work quite well as a drying aid. Glad I bought a gallon though as I used up almost a full 16oz sprayer bottle for the first coat.
