2022 Lotus Emira, the last ICE for the brand.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CP0HomCISlb/
Seems a few production teaser shots have been shared prior to the July 6th reveal. This car is confrimed to be replacing the Elise, Exige and Evora as their last internal combustion engine equipped production car to be sold in North America. We now know the cat will come with a digital dash display and an automatic transmission opyion with paddle shifters. It's rumored to once again source a Toyota power plant in the form of a 2.0l 4 cylinder, a 3.6l 6 cylinder with a supercharger variation. https://www.lotuscars.com/en-US/emira -- I have a feeling this thing is going to hit tripple digits but, it has my interest more than the 400Z.

Toyota powerplant?
the 2.0L turbo in the lexus cars maybe? or the 2.0L N/A in the corolla? unless thats not powerful enough.... The current 3.5L doesnt have a supercharger variant/addon though, unless they're still gonna use the slightly older 3.5L version in found in the Elise and Evora.... |

I've been deep in Lotus in past months and am following the Emira closely. The rumors are for a 2 liter AMG engine (probably the M139 from the CLA/A45) with a DCT (only) and the existing 3.5 Toyota engine with a supercharger from the Evora and Exige with both a manual and a torque converted automatic (same as the Evora).
It's probably gonna be based on the Evora chassis, slightly shortened and forgoing the optional +2 seats, and styling should be heavily influenced by the Evija. Nobody's holding their breath for anything like an Elise/Exige, rather something more like a modernized Evora. Pricing was claimed by Lotus CEO to be between Cayman and 911 and closer to the Cayman, so expectations are for a $70k starting price. Full reveal should be in Goodwood Festival of Speed in a month. |

You and me both, brother! As it's based on the Evora expect around 3000 lbs, perhaps a little less. No way it'll be a 2000 lb machine like the Elise/Exige. But I'll be damn happy if it will!
BTW, I tagged along a Lotus meetup recently and I was happy not being the heaviest car there - 3 Elises, 2 Exiges and 2 Evoras. |

It really needs to differentiate itself from a Porsche somehow, i.e. much lighter. The Evora failed on that.

It kind of sounds like Lotus might be moving away from being a boutique manufacturer to something more akin to a major manufacturer in quality and production. I wouldn’t be surprised if a crossover or sedan was in the works to help bring revenue into the company, which can help to support their sports cars by having shared components and bringing down the costs through economies of scale.
