one of the biggest reasons to getting this over other brands is that i can use the batteries in all my other tools. runner up was the eco mower, but then i'm stuck with a massive battery that only does one job.

i've got the weed whacker and the blower. it was a buy one, get the other and a battery for free deal, got a 9.0 battery with that. it lives on the work truck. i keep some older 5.0 batteries around the house for lawn duties.

i'm going to see how the summer goes. if i can do my lawn with only some 6.0's, the 12.0's will also migrate to work tool duty.
I did the same thing, except I went all Makita. I got one of their self-propelled walk-behind mowers, a string trimmer, a tire inflator, a blower and a drill that all run off of the same batteries. Because I bought some of the items as kits with batteries and a charger, I have a total of 8 battery packs and the ability to charge 4 packs simultaneously.

That’s hilarious lol

I’m looking at electric mowers too. Post up how you like it after a half dozen uses.

Had a milestone today of sorts at our house. I replaced the very first LED lights we bought for household use. They were in our front porch lights. Not sure exactly how old they are, but it is probably in the 10 to 12 year range. I know I paid a fortune for them but they have been on at least at a low level the entire time and about 6 hour a night at full burn. They were always on at low level because they were on a non-LED aware timer that let a trickle of electricity through to power itself.

Replaced the timer switch with a Leviton smart switch as well.

We still aren't fully converted to LED. We have a handful of incandescent bulbs left in closets and bathrooms that are used infrequently.

Here's one of the four LED bulbs I replaced. Totally old school. 3 of the 4 still had 1 LED working, but they didn't put out enough light.

Hey, no worries I took care of it for you. Called him up off the card and said you'd rather meet in person at your house tonight around 1:00am.

No need to thank me.

The house we moved to three years ago was new construction and all but the two dozen or so LED flood light were halogen bulbs. Halogen bulbs are exempt from the ban as they are considered higher efficiency, but they still consume 5 to 10 times more electricity than equivalent LED alternatives. I wholesale replaced every non-LED bulb in the house and to date none had to be replaced. However, the LED floods are one by one failing 10 years short of they predicted lifespan. An autopsy revealed that none of the LEDs in the arrays have failed, but the large electrolytic capacitor in the driver swells up and oozes goop. Laying out the parts on a bench, I substituted the capacitor and the lamp came back to life. Only way I would replicate this Frankenstein Bulb is during a Zombie Apocalypse where you have to recycle and reuse everything. More plastic and crap for the landfill. A friend of mine who has an alternative way of thinking which is in most cases 180° out of phase with the rest of the world, once reasoned that the incandescent light bulbs were not energy inefficient because the heat generated in the house is that much less heat that has to come from the furnace. If the Greenies are successful in banning natural gas here and all we have is electricity (available 4 hours on alternate days) he makes sense. With a 500 Watt flood lamp, you could light up the room so the kids could do their homework, heat the room and cook dinner.

There is some sensibility to your friend's logic. I don't think I could fully list every way I've used incandescent bulbs for their heat rather than their light. There was cooking (easy bake oven, etc), keeping plumbing fixtures from freezing, heating dog houses, heating pump houses, heating out houses. They were a very convenient method for keeping small spaces above freezing, and sometimes well above that temp.

also got the creepiest real estate mail today too. sent in a halmark card
[/QUOTE]

For a while I would get a mailing several times a week. Some are the legitimate flyers that happen when a broker sells a property in your neighborhood, but most range from the truly lame postcards all in lower case chicken scratch to recycled stationary and greeting cards. The absolute best one was from a house flipper that came as a ransom note spelled out with clipped words from magazines. It was a good copy of the original, but it was one solicitation that at least caught my attention. I accidentally shredded it with a pile of other junk mail. I hope I get another, it was pretty cool. Now mostly I get cold calls asking if I wanted to sell the house. Everything is for sale; you just have to come up with a price. I usually say,”Yes, it is for sale.” I just take the approximate value and double it. Lot of time there is a long silence on the other end of the call. They don’t have a script prepared for that. About five minutes after I hung up on a car insurance scam, the phone rang again and it was the Jehovah’ Witness lady from the place up the road wanting to speak to my wife. I screen the calls and I said that she was not available. I was distracted at the time and was not really listening to what she was saying. I was going over a pile of papers concerning my dog who died recently and in my head, I was talking to the veterinarian clinic. I said that he died a few days ago. The woman offered a bit of condolences and I told her I had to go. A few days later I received a letter expressing condolences about the PASSING OF MY WIFE. Enclosed were the usual printed tracts about grieving yadda yadda yadda… my wife thought it was as funny as I did. Some time passed and I received more correspondence addressed to me. It suggested that I should join them at the Kingdom Hall and maybe I can get hooked up with a nice single lady.

Plus, using a lightbulb under the hood of a car, with a blanket over the hood, to keep the engine from freezing.

There is some debate as to whether the rapture happens before or after the war of all nations is fully over.
