86 Facelift TRD diffuser on a Pre-facelift

Can anyone confirm if the overall shape of the rear diffuser (specifically the textured, plastic part around the fog light) is any different to the pre-facelift aside from the little accent parts they added?

Wondering if this part will fit my pre 2017.

I know the OEM facelift TRD bumper with moulded diffuser won’t fit because the rear bumper is slightly different, but I don’t see why something like the above item wouldn’t fit the pre-facelift diffuser as the little accents they added shouldn’t interfere with the diffuser.

I know the listing says it’s for 17-20 but I messaged them and they haven’t actually tried fitting it. I don’t think there is an OEM equivalent of this diffuser (seperate from the TRD rear bumper) so I’m guessing they just labelled it as 17-20 since that’s what it’s based on

Toyota facelift rear bumpers are completely different from pre-facelift ones. The diffuser is wider, the overall height of the bumper is higher, and there's an added part on the bottom.

Subaru uses the same rear bumpers of the pre-facelift models.

Rear bumper part sure, if the only real difference with the diffuser is it’s wider, I still don’t see why that part I linked couldn’t fit assuming those 2 fins on either side of the fog light + the exhaust cut out locations were in the same place

When I messaged the place I hoped they would try test fitting it as if it does fit then it would expand their potential sales. They didn’t seem interested though :/

Site moderator, @ichitaka05, did it. It'll take some custom work to make it fit properly, but he did say he doesn't recommend it lol. Whether it's worth the trouble is up to you:

Correct, it does not fit at all. I highly NOT recommend it on zenki rear bumper to fit kouki rear lip. If you wanna go through same headache as me, you’re more than welcome to do so. End result is nice… but you’ll be cutting, fitting, more cutting & more fitting to get it the way it should be.

Thanks for clearing that up

I’ll give it more thought but I planned to pair it with the TRD quad exhaust garnish so I was already prepared to be doing some cutting.

Maybe I’ll try get a spare rear bumper from the wreckers and see if I can make it work
